Shame he's not doing a NPR Tiny Desk concert and singing about the Hansen collection :'(

I agree as if he's not at least juggling some of Hansen's coins it's not worth going through the hassle of registering ;)

It was an interesting hour - he mentioned TDN and Currin and the Hansen Watch thread too. They are going to make the recording available in the future if you missed it.

    Is it over yet

It was fun to watch. I didn’t know Hansen collects ancient coins too. That’s a bit unfortunate for me because he’s a force I can’t possibly compete with. But I do think it is cool he chose a difficult and complex numismatic area to explore next.

It was also brought up that as a side gig he collects some minor varieties. Mr. Hansen, let me know if you need any seated dimes. 😂

I thought it was an hour well spent.

no world coins though - so I'm safe

    Don't Ancients qualify?

Yes and no -- no in this instance.

    Why not?

    What are you looking for?

He was specifically asked that - said yes to ancients and no to world (meaning other than ancients).

Ah, well, focus is important for accomplishment.

I wonder how much of his Ancients collection is in NGC slabs and if this will prompt PCGS to get into this area?

Good question as he was reportedly nudged to collect PCGS and does not, except on a very limited basis, collect NGC to have them crossed over. Supposedly - he does not like to wait for the cross over and wants immediate gratification on updating his registry sets.

    Give it a few years.

PCGS is finally starting to make an impact on Civil War Tokens and So-Called Dollars after staring slabbing years ago.

I’d like to see PCGS do ancients and a broader array of world coins but I’ve read repeatedly that for ancients, anyway, the market doesn’t prefer slabs and there aren’t enough skilled graders out there for both PCGS and NGC.
