Don't forget that the SMS is particularly valuable, so you'll probably want to send the coin in at one of the highest tiers to ensure it's graded quickly and fully insured for its high value.

Well, he received over a dozen responses from members, including some very knowledgeable and well respected people in the numismatic community. Nobody even remotely feels he may have something, yet he is still looking for the truth.
At least if he's going to troll the board, he could make it a little more believable.

I'm not sure I'd trust it in the mail these days. I would hire a private courier.

One thing I've learned from this thread is to not douche my coins anymore. It's pure acetone for me from now on.
Funny story from a woman coin dealer I know. She's a WW II German immigrant. She and her husband originally settled in Pennsylvania and her husband worked for a local engineering firm.
One day, her husband brought his boss home for dinner. Ursula got a late start and came downstairs from dressing after they arrived.
"I'm sorry," she told her husband's boss. "I''ve been running all day and I had to douche before you arrived."

Hmmm. A very funny story indeed, but as I learned in Germany, that word means "shower" in German. So it was only slightly less embarrassing.
Some things get lost in translation. One time when I was on a bathroom break a friend called me and instead of telling him that I was in the restroom, my coworker translated very literally the German expression and said I was "on the toilet".

Why encourage him to throw away his money?
The OP seems determined that this is an SMS and has not heeded the overwhelming response from members here to the contrary. He is not deterred.
There has been a very strong effort made to educate and that advice ignored- so he/she appears to be taking it to a higher power.
I for one would very much enjoy a follow up with the results- whatever the outcome.

Dont know what trolling is so sorry do appreciate the responses from the members Even if they're not the responses I was looking for. But must admit this very entertaining even though the title is completely false because you guys let me know that my mom told me lies and I backed them up because that's my family lol I must keep the nickel it is a good scratching tool for my lottery tickets also if trolling means getting a lot of views and responses then I guess I was trolling I apologize

Only 60 minted of what ? Please explain what it is we're looking at.
I think the OP is under the impression that this coin was a 1964 SMS example. If it was, the point is now moot as the coin is so worn that any diagnostics would long be gone.
It wasn't.
As another poster said, it's just one of a billion produced.
Nothing to get excited about.
I would just like to say thank you for your feedback I have now realized I have what I thought were a quite a few coins that were keepsakes on that just be put and my coin jar it's a little disheartening to know that every single coin I thought was something was nothing

You are welcome.
If I were you I would still keep your coins in their jar.
Your memories of those who gave them to you are worth more than the coins, anyway.

Sometimes the attribution for novice collectors is "because I want it to be". Assuming the OP is not a troll, I assume his attribution is along these lines. Sometimes they will listen to reason, explanations, etc. Other times any doubt just increases the "because I want it to be" attribution.

Don’t feel too bad!
Many of us are inclined to dream big occasionally.
It’s what keeps life fun! The thrill of the hunt- And some hope of hitting it big.
I have a deep inventory of thrift store and garage sale finds that I was certain were tremendous windfalls!
A couple of them were pretty good hits, but many more were miserable embarrassments that my beloved wife has never forgotten, as much as I’ve tried to.... she is there to remind me. ;-)
Keep up the spirits, learn and continue the quest.

Coins like these ARE keepsakes. They are a valuable part of your family heritage. They just aren't going to cause you a lot of sleepless nights trying t decide if you should sell them and buy a car/house/whatever. Please, save these coins from Coinstar and use them as wonderful memories of your family.

So I finally Googled what trolling is and I apologize I guess that is what I have done was not my intention I was giving false information that I retract and I am not that savvy to the whole internet scene for the fact that I hate computers

There is a wealth of knowledge and experience here on the forum. I myself have been collecting for 57 years. Joined the forum two years ago and I've learned more in those two years than the previous 55.
Some members here respond in a condescending, ridiculing way which I do not agree with. If you can get past that, stick around, you'll learn alot.

Go slow, learn and enjoy the hobby if it interests you. And hold onto those coins because years
from now you will look at them and enjoy them.

I guess I missed the post where he actually said why he thinks it's an SMS coin.
But, if he wants the "truth" then by all means PCGS and the USPS will be happy to get the revenue.
As that guy in that show used to say, "the truth is out there".
And as that other guy in that movie once said, "you can't handle the truth."
