What Dansco complete sets do you own?

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,863 ✭✭✭✭✭

7070 Type? Completed? How about Mercury dimes, either nicely worn or mint state? I'd be curious who completed a set of Dansco album coins and what you moved on to next.
Thanks!
I am currently working on completing two Jefferson sets (complete MS/PR from 1938- 2016) and a short set of Walker's. I have two typesets, but what is left are coins that kind of bore me (like the half dimes).

    Completed:
    Lincoln cents
    Shield cents
jfferson nickles old style and new
    SBA
    mercury dimes including varieties, franklin's
    kennedy's
walkers with spare holes mostly filled with classic comments
silver Washington quarters (32-64, 92-98 silver proofs and the bicentennial 40% quarters)
    Silver state quarter date set
    silver parks quarters date set
    presidential dollars

    In progress:
    Silver dollar date set
    Large cents
    7070 type with gold page
    Buffalo nickles
    Indian head cents
Foreign coins in a generic "coins" dansco.

Been at it for about 30 years now.

I am interested in starting some barber coin albums, I have no interest in Rosie's, but may add some pages to my mercury dime albums for the silver foodies.

Peace and WLH, but in the LOC albums, if that counts. Peace is primarily UNC except 21 and 34S. WLH's are primarily Good pre-27 but original and matching, and VF to MS64 dates after. My Morgans Dansco is 98%+ complete with 99 coins, including adding another page and the different 78's and some of the major VAMS. Not sure I want to break out an UNC 81 or 85CC, or the 93S, from their slabs to fill those holes. Didn't think twice breaking out 82-84 CC's in MS63 slabs, or an 03-O, but any coins in slabs valued over $400 makes me nervous that I'd lose too much value making raw. So the Morgan set is as complete as I guess it will be.

The 7070 type set was my favorite and most expensive album project. I've also completed an MS Franklin set, WLH's (mostly from 90% picks) and a 3 sets of ASE's.
    That's it for me...

I completed a Franklin Dansco (business strike only) and found all of them raw at my LCS and eBay. My next Dansco was the 7070 type set. That was a combination of raw coins and cracked slabs (I mainly focused on problem slabs containing coins with nice details-this helped keep the cost down while still being able to enjoy the designs). I've toyed around with the idea of doing a foreign Dansco, but the albums are hard to find and often pricey. Maybe I will be inspired one day if I run into an affordable album.

I just have the Mercury dime set completed... although the 16-d for that set is actually in an NCS AG3 slab... I also have about 30 DDO, DDR, RPM etc with those

I mainly collect raw Ancients, PCGS Mercury Dimes, and raw CSA'S... but have misc other sets...Jeffhttps://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/mysetregistry/set/215647https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/mysetregistry/showcase/8378

You guys are way ahead of the game. Neat sets here. Do you purchase your set coins raw or sometimes break slabbed coins? I have a few BU coins in my Dansco 1941-1947 Walker set.

I typically start with rolls of coins, so for mercury dimes and walkers I bought a couple AU rolls from apmex, then a few circulated rolls. For key dates a lot of the time I will crack them out of a slab. My favorite LCS sells a lot of ANACS slabbed coins, I like to crack those because they are easier to open and the sticker from them can usually be peeled off and placed on the dansco page.

My walker short set is all AU or better, but the rest of the collection is circulated, older coins are more worn than later. Same story with mercs, the late 30's forward are mostly AU+ but older coins are all circulated.
