Ebay 1909-s vdb, f-vf starting price $3000.00???

Link

Have I been away too long? If someone sees someone bid on this let me know and I'll see what I can find to put up for sale.

Even if his starting price wasn't in another galaxy, I know I'd want to send $3000.00 to a guy with a zero feedback rating image

I suspect this was the same bozo selling a 1856 FE PR20 I believe, raw and no px. I emailed him and never got a reply.

Sounds like a real investment oportunity, for

Raw coin, no picture, zero seller with shades on. Hmm. What's my password again, so I can sign in to eBay and bid on that puppy?

What's the insertion fee on an item with a $3,000 starting price? I wonder how much that moron just flushed down the toilet?

May have been a stolen credit card used for the auction.

"Fine to Very Fine Condition, best offer, seller retains the right to refuse any and all offers.Asking starting bid of $3000"

What does he mean by this? Sounds like he is using eBay as an advertising medium to solicit offers so he can sell the coin for something less than $3000 and not pay the eBay seller's fee.

anyone who is contemplating a bid on this coin should first "ask the seller a question" and find out if the brackets around VDB are prominent on his coin...

Jesus said, "If those who lead you say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in the sky,' then the
birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will
precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you
come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you
who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in
poverty and it is you who are that poverty."--- Gospel of Thomas (Lamdin translation)

Absurd! (And that's being kind.) He/she won't get a bid unless someone out there is beyond deranged. All the messages (above) point out the obvious about this coin and seller. If the coin were in a PCGS MS64 holder....maybe....in a 65 holder it would attract some bids. Further, how much do any of you want to bet that his/her "grading" is inflated? I'll bet my 09VDB PCGS MS67 on this! (Of course, you would have to bet a comparable value.)

My guess is G-VG with a super glued 'S' in the wrong position. Wish I had a scan to confirm my suspicions.

Boy, If this coin is priced this high,

Then I must have gotten a good deal on the 09-s VDB PCGS-64 red I bought last month for 1900.00

    Coppernicus,
Do you think the seller actually went to the trouble of having the coin in the first place? Based on all the other factors pointed out in this thread, I think there's a better than 50/50 chance that the coin is not in the sellers possesion in the first place. image

    danglen,
I'll go one step further and say their is a 90% chance this scammer is under 18 years old, used a stolen CC for his account, and does crack rather than crack-outs.
