Some what Off Topic,But Please Read. Thank You In Advance.

Today marks my 7th anniversary on this forum. However not a day for celebration. Tonight we will be having our beloved 15 year old cat Rusty euthanized due to ongoing health issues. He has been with us since 6 weeks old. For the pet lovers out there you know the trauma for an owner that accompanies such a decision. I believe I've never asked anyone here for anything and trust I did not offend anyone here during my stay. If so I apologize. What I would like to see in Rusty's honor is postings of your rusty, rustic, russet toned coins or any coins that celebrate his life. This will be much appreciated. And if/when the time comes for such a decision for your pet, may you find comfort in your time of sorrow. Thank you all once again.

Sorry for your loss, I've been in your situation three times so I know how difficult it will be for you and your family today.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
See in my sig, we had to put a cat down that we had for over 20 years.
About 18 months before then we adopted these two, Aleksandr Pushkin and Tyen. They were trained by Seryozha and both adopted a lot of his traits.
Aw. So sorry buddy. Us animal lovers can certainly relate. I for one, had a few of our dear doggies leave us. Heartbreaking! After all, they end up being like family. You must remember, they are in a far better place than us right now. Running around with our other departed pets.

This is Silky... she has a rust spot on her back (but was not cooperating).... no rusty coins. Sorry about your pet... Pets are family. Cheers, RickO

Very sorry for your loss. We had to euthanize our Burmese about 4 years ago, and my wife's flame point Siamese the year before that. It's very tough.
I'm saddened to read this thread. We have gone through this ourselves four times and there is nothing easy about it.

Really sorry to hear about that. Here’s a toned coin and a truly rusted steel cent.

A pretty rustic coin and four sorely missed pets. I can absolutely sympathize with you.
We've lost a few over the last few decades. It never gets easier, the loss is great, but experience of having shared our lives with them was greater. RIP Rusty.......I share your grief.

I am so sorry my friend. I would like to let you know that I am in the same boat with my German Shepherd, he is 13 and his miles are catching up with him fast ... and I'm not ready for this.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Words really don’t apply at times like this but many of of here have lost
a family pet and my heart goes out to you. It’s been over 5 years now that I lost mine and hardly a day
goes by without me thinking of him. They truly are members of your family.

At the vets, hold him in your lap, so you will be the last thing on earth he sees.
I held each of our cats securely and spoke to them while I stroked their fur in an attempt to keep them calm and comforted.

Sorry for your loss. Hope you find a new friend soon.

I don't have any photos of toned coins, but do sympathize with you as we have lost 5 cats over the years AND one of them was named Rusty. Here's our sweet 10 year old Daisy, rescued when she was 3.

I still well up thinking about Milo my Boston who passed on Halloween 2016, and Sparky our Rat Terrier who left us a year later.

3 days after Sparky passed, we unexpectedly adopted evil twins Max and Edie, who we trust will live forever.
They send their best wishes.
Truly sorry for your loss...we had to put down our Australian Kelpie PupPup (kids named her) just a week ago. The house is really quiet without her around and I miss my girl! The last year or so she got me up 2-3 times a night to go outside like clockwork, 11.30pm,1.30am and 3.30am. and oddly many of the times I did not mind at all. There were some nights when I was standing out in the backyard at 2am (she was blind etc. so had to be accompanied) and it was absolutely beautiful out. Saw one of the most stunning meteors I have ever seen one time.
The pain will pass and as many have alluded here you are not alone! Treasure the memories and let them bring a smile to your face!
To hear that breaks my heart BLUEJAYWAY

My thoughts are with you. I'm sure he lived like a king.

Sorry to hear the sad news.
Very sorry to hear about your loss.
When I was younger I had a cat named Rusty - a long-haired orange cat. I had him for about 20 years.
I am now half owner of 2 cats - I own the front half, and I leave the back half business to my friend.
Here is one of them:

Very sorry to hear this! All my best!!!
My big Teddy Rott says hello and be strong!
Sorry to hear that it is your feline friends time.
When I think of a cat with the name of Rusty, I imagine one like mine old friend Whiskers. He was an orange and white, gorgeous cat with a feisty presence but a loyal and loving way.
We found him in a parking lot half way home from Pismo Beach, when my two oldest kids were still quite young. They reached down to pet him after we had stopped for ice cream, and promptly confirmed he did not have a collar to me, which I checked before shooing them toward the truck.
The kids really wanted to keep him, but we were still fifty miles from home. I told them to get in the truck and we all pilled in while the cat looked at us through my open door.
"Can we bring him home Dad, please. Please!"
Oh man, I was thinking. Now what.
"I'll tell you what guys", I offered, "if he'll get up into the truck on his own, and sit right here on my leg (patting my left leg as I said this) ... and he'll stay calm, and not go crazy on the drive home ... sure, we can bring him home."
"Really Dad?! Really?!"
Sure, I think. No chance it'll happen, but sure.
So, I looked over at the cat in the parking lot, and said, "So, you coming or what?"
And I'll be damned if that cat didn't jump on my lap, cross the three of us and nudge my oldest son Tyler, come back in the middle and do the same to my daughter Kami, and right back into my lap where he curled down on my left leg.
He was a great cat and a great companion, and I still miss him sometimes, even some 16 years after he passed.
Like now, after typing that.
Here's as rusty looking as I can think of ...
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's going on 18 years since I was last in your shoes, and while I still miss my friend, when I think back, it's all the great memories that come to mind. Going back even further, I, too had a Rusty--my second of three hamsters, with a deep brown coat. I hope that over time the sadness can give way to so many years of fond memories. I gave my pup an extra hug tonight.
Sorry for your loss, know it hurts. I lost my Harvey over Christmas so can understand.

Miss the fella,
Sending good energy your way ✨
Thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Rusty was fortunate to have you as his friend and family.
To all the posters who took some of their precious time to offer their most generous thoughts and condolences. My girlfriend and I would like to offer our deepest thanks. She was impressed with the posts. She is not easily impressed. She had no idea of the coin community and it's makeup. At times the world can be a dark place, in this instance it shined.
Sorry for your loss. My cat's named Hobo- roughly 13 years old and still a big spoiled brat. You could call him a rescue... I found him about 11 years ago laying under a bush in front of my house. Thought he was deceased, and according to the vet he wasn't far from it. He was malnourished and looked like he'd been on his own for a while. Either dumped or a runaway... declawed so he was someone's indoor cat but we could never find an owner as he wasn't chipped. I've always been a dog guy but couldn't bring myself to take him to a shelter. So now he owns the place. This is him getting my attention while I was doing some paperwork in the den. Feed me, human. Now.
RIP Mom- 1932-2012
So sorry for your loss. We went through this last year with three of our dogs, all up around 15-16 years old. It's not an easy time, heartbreaking, but always remember the joy you brought each other and keep the memory alive! I know you said rusty coin, but I wanted to post something just rusty, like these anchors!!!
RIP I am sorry for your loss. I never experinced the pain since my parents did not tell me they put my dog down for roughly a year (I was living in the US and Sunny was in Ukraine). RIP SUNNY
I'm sorry to hear this, it's always incredibly difficult. I'm sure you gave them a top-notch life, remember that!
Lost Tigger on the left, 6 years ago- 20 years old. MeToo we lost 2 years ago- 16 years old (not bad for the runt of the litter)

Since summer of 2019, these 3 have assumed control...

@BLUEJAYWAY I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know well the trauma of losing a beloved pet. I lost my favorite pet ever in 2004, and I still get upset about losing him when I think about him. Again, I am so sorry
