Nothing quite says multi-million dollar coin like a screenshot indicating that a coin one grade higher set the price record back in 2004 at OVER $63,000!

and nothing says ridiculous like a member with 138 posts getting called out by a guy with 369 posts. :p

Wow nice coin. It's the same 1873 T$1 PF65 pictured on the first page of the Coinfacts site.

Looks like this is a troll, first off account was made fairly recently, and second of it's purchasing a multimillion dollar coin (probably). that's on the first page of coinfacts

    Did I miss something?

@CaliforniaKing. You feeling ok? Coin is legit, was recently for sale by a well known dealer, was purchased, and is not a multi-million dollar coin.

    What are you talking about?
I’ve seen no hint of trolling and I don’t recall anyone in this thread talking about buying a multimillion dollar coin. I recommend that you carefully read all of the posts. And if you don’t don’t find solid evidence to support your accusation, you owe an apology.

You are right. I just assumed that that coin is expensive af. I am sorry to the OP for this comment.

I wanted to acquire another Proof Trade. Which year would be as significant as the first year? Obviously 1884 & 1885 are out of the picture......... photos will have to suffice.

    Yes it is.
So it seems as if other than 1873, it would be a toss up, nothing that sticks out like the first year or am I wrong?

All I was saying is it appears that the 1873 being first year is a no brainer year to obtain. The 1876 being the centennial as you mentioned also has many varieties to choose from. Is there another no brainer year or is that it for proof Trade Dollar series?

I wish the 1895 Morgan Proof was priced a whole lot cheaper, that would be a great Proof to obtain.

The only other distinction I would make is 73-77 are found in both proof and circulation strikes whereas the 78-85 are proof only.

Here's another idea. You have a nice 1873 Proof. Go out and get a matching 1873 Business Strike. That would be a very nice, significant two coin set. It's cool to contrast and compare the proofs and the MS coins.

I believe '73 was one of the years where the dies were re-used, so it's possible one could even find an MS coin that shares the same dies as the coin in the original post here. @Crypto correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I found you a 1878: It's at Pinnacle Rarities, and a tad expensive

Your thinking is spot on. Proofs are always the best examples of a coin. And in many cases they sell for less than their MS counterparts. I have never understood this as I focus on almost exclusively proof coins in my collections.

The Pinnacle piece is amazing and also prohibitively expensive for my budget. I will have to find another, but thanks for the gazing opportunity. These cam designations and their accompanying premiums really irk me.
