Tell me Your worst coin purchase

In 1993 I was fresh out of college, and had just gotten a good paying job. I went to an auction with because they had two gold coins in the auction. I ended getting both of them, a $10 Indian and a $5 lib. I got them for what would have been just under melt. I didn't know much about coins at the time, but noticed a raised dot and remembered an article I read about counterfeit coins that had that feature. I took them to a coin shop and they immediately identified them as counterfeits, and bad counterfeits at that. I went back to the auctioneer, and he gave me my money back, despite the no refund policy. The experience kept me away from coins for well over 10 years.

Another bad purchase was buying a monster box of Gettysburg ATB 5 ozt silver in 2011. The price of silver dropped over $10 before it was even delivered. It was such bad timing.
