<< <i>Hey Greg- If you bid on a coin and later found out (somehow out of the blue??) the seller refused to provide a refund privilege, would you bother to send your payment? >>
Personally, if I thought the dealer was a SCUMBAG, then no I wouldn't.
Did I miss new scans of the coin? I would need to see these before I could decide if the scans in the auction were manipulated.
The scans in the auction look like a properly graded coin. In the description he states he tried 4 times to upgrade. Whether this is true or not really doesn't matter because what he is saying is that the coin will not grade higher.
So at the moment, I really don't see what the beef is. No return policy stated in the auction and not unusual for slabbed coins. Whether the ANA can intervene, I don't know.
But I find it hard to blame the seller in this case IMO.
Kranky and DCAM- I did, in my return email, invite him to join and add his comments here. His email to me was convincing there are two sides to every dilemna.
<< <i>Pepperdoodles, since you are obviously reading this thread anyway, why not respond here? It might be a way to clear up any misconceptions. >>
Since Pepperdoodles has failed to respond here, I personally have to assume that everything segoja said about him is true and in my book, he is a SCUMBAG.
BTW, pepperdoodles, keep the emails coming to me. They're funny (in a pathetic sort of way).
I'll provide scans from my machine when the coin makes it back.
I appreciate everyone's candid feedback. I will, as I always do, take the high road. For sure negative feedback stating just the facts: NO RETURN PRIVILEGE, BE CAREFUL OF THE SCANS.
I will also approach the ANA.
I've given this gentleman one more opportunity to correct the situation. If he does, I'll certainly post on this site.
"informed me of who to talk to and the remedy/process to have you removed from c/u permanantly. keep it up and you'll be out. threat? no. promise? yes."
Funny! The members here have rained Hell Fire on PCGS, ANA, David Hall and Heritage (countless other major player in the hobby) and no one has been kicked off. This guy is clueless.

I'VE SEEN ONE OF THE 2 LONE 8DCAMS AND THIS COIN IS AS NICE OR BETTER FOR CONTRAST,PERIOD. I WISH I COULD GET MY HANDS ON IT FOR A LOANER AND SEND IT IN WITH THIS ONE FOR REVIEW
This is an interesting statement. The first 68 DC T1 is in the EBL III collection. I believe he bought it from R&I. The second is in my safe deposit box, where it has been since I made it a year ago.
<< <i>Hey Doops, when can Segoja expect to receive his refund? If not, I can't wait to see it at the FUN Show. Seems he's going to be showing it all around. >>
* no he's not dchump, he's not THAT stupid because they all will tell him the same thing. "bout as close as you could get without getting there". "it's a definite near dcam pq coin, sell it as such. too bad you couldnt have made an extra 35 hun on it but shut up and keep rolling. no, he aint stupid,he's just irresponsible
<< <i>...my questions: 1) Is this fraud (As defined by Webster - deceit or trickery used to gain an unfair or dishonest advantage) >>
no
<< <i>2) If it is fraud, then do you proceed with A) EBAY Fraud or Postal Service Mail Fraud (Maybe that's why he doesn't like shipping with USPS), or C) Both >>
not fraud, imo.
live by the plastic, die by the plastic. regardless of seller's opinoin, the auction clearly depicted the slab, & you bought it knowing what plastic it was in.
like him or not, the seller is in the right on this 1, imo.
Well Doops, you have certainly managed to put your "best foot forward". Everyone here is bedazzled with your wit. I'm sure you've increased your business exposure with your few posts to this Forum!
If the coin is as strong as you say, then why have you not taken me up on my offer to sell you the coin back for $100 less than you sold it to me for. Seems like a fair offer to me. Maybe even the under bidder would buy the coin at the $1400 that he bid, and you could turn another $100. In my very first e-mail to you I told you that I would cover you, but you seem to have overlooked that....OR
That certainly would have kept all these posts from happening, in fact most folks would have viewed that as a sign of a "power seller."
I've sent the coin to another board member for a second opinion. Should have it back for FUN.
You are absolutely correct. Nice is the way to go, and facts prove everything.
Stick to facts and not conjecture, and you'll never go wrong.
The good news is the FACT that Pepperdoodles has a NO RETURN POLICY...PERIOD is now a known fact, as opposed to a little known and hidden fact. If everyone on this forum now knows that, my $$$ was well spent.
Did I tell you guys I got a 1951 Dime in my change yesterday?
I have to be honest and say that I don't know everything that has transpired, haven't looked at the auction, haven't looked at the coin but we all know ebay....Simply said, Buyer Beware.
Personally, I do not know either individual but reading the response from the seller, I feel as though I would not make any bids on any of his auctions. Irregardless of the situation, the buyer believes that he did not receive the item as described, The seller responded in an unsatisfactory way, the buyer who felt he had nowhere to turn notified the message forum about the problem, The seller was invited here to give their side of the story.
Unfortunately nothing was resolved with exception to the seller showing their true colors on how they handle 'customer' complaints. The Seller could be the greatest person in the world but after what I have seen... I'm cetain he has turned off many potential buyers. Me? I would prefer someone return an item to me that they are unhappy with. I keep in constant email contact with that person from start to finish and hope they are satisfied with whatever it is I am selling. As for the seller, I would recommend that you post your return policy on your auctions from now on. Even if you are just a victim of circumstance here, atleast you can be upfront with how you handle returns.
...and I got a laugh at "the customer is not always right".... but if your getting a good deal of complaints, perhaps it's time to listen to your customers. The best sales people listen to their customers and cater to them. With a response like yours, you will get negative feedback. If you do right by your customers, you may find that even though a customer is mad as hell... your response can be the difference between what happened here and something that turns out to the advantage of both the buyer and the seller... a positive transaction!
As a buyer and seller, I ALWAYS take care of my customers. If they even remotely think I've misdescribed a coin, send it back for an immediate refund. If they think I've been grossly negligent in my description, I'll even eat all the postage. The no questions asked return is clearly stated in each auction.
I've had a few returns from my e-bay auctions. I've even ended up with positive feedback out of them because of how the returns were handled....just as you state.
Life is quid pro quo. It's amazing what happens when you take care of folks.
Another story...not to bore anyone. I bought and sold the nicest GSA dollar I've ever seen at Central States in 2001. Flipped it for about a $500 profit...the coin was a stone cold white MS67 1885-CC. The seller...a good friend made much more than I did on the deal. As someone that I buy and sell with frequently he felt bad about his profit. Next time he saw me he immediately wrote me a check for $250. Do you think I'll sell to him again...you bet. Well I had a coin like that as well. I sent the guy I bought it from the $250 months after the deal.
I hope that $250 makes it around to each of you one day. Play it forward!
heh,it wont be too hard to go for you pal, you're easily accessible. you hadnt got a clue who you are talking to nor what you are talking about with all your troublemaking ramblings.just popping off like you are somebody important. a friend of mine at heritage rcg in dallas is who email forwarded me your slander when he saw something about pepperdoodles and read further and informed me of who to talk to and the remedy/process to have you removed from c/u permanantly. keep it up and you'll be out. threat? no. promise? yes. and why of course i read c/u boards have for a long while now,it's an integral part of our industry, not yours. we just dont have the time nor the weak stature like you to stoop to participating in your kind of kid stuff. until you crossed the line i was ignoring you and the rest of the whiners. this is not your playground son so be informed.
I don't know what is funnier, this scumbags pathetic threats or his inability to use grammar. I'm shaking. HAHAHAHA. >>
just an update: i told him i'd tell him so. even tried to communicate above and beyond the need/desire....dchump is NEXT you cannot go around slandering businesses as a bitter, inexperienced, limited knowledged "dabbler" acting like a coin champion and think there will not be repercussions at the finality of the matter.....
