I'm always in awe of the awesome talent and of the amazing eye sight of coin die engravers.
This artist, though, has got to take the cake.

Two years ago I sent away to the Canadian Library and Archives to see if there was any info on my grandfather who served in WW2. This week, to my pleasant surprise, I got an envelope of 21 documents and a photograph. The photograph was the most surprising thing of course, because I wasn't expecting it at all.
One of the documents had a nice, succinct bio.
Some of the documents are hard to read because of abbreviations, acronyms, and shorthand. It's hard to pin down what exact squadron he was with. If I can figure that out I can explore the Library and Archives more in depth and hopefully find some more photographs.

Stephen's Big Purple rose. Red at first and turns almost purple after 2-3 days in a vase. Very rich fragrance.
I never thought that growing old would happen so fast.

@philographer He died when I was very young, four years old. I remember liking him a lot, and being so scared seeing him a shell of himself after a major stroke. He left behind a Windsor Newton watercolor set I first started painting with, and I still have his Minolta SRT-201 SLR camera. Still works, still use it. So yes, there is indeed some inspiration there.

These are from my late grandfather's war book. The document I find most interesting and intriguing is the evacuation document to a US Hospital Ship but it's in german and what made it so significant that he kept it??

Pictured is a rare atmosphere magnified view of Mount Foraker, the sixth tallest mountain in North America at 17,402 feet contrasted to its sister mountain, Denali f/k/a Mt. McKinley, at 20,308 feet which holds the record as the highest.

Pretty sure I pinned down another photo of my grandfather from the Archives based on the info I got. Corresponds to the date and location of the completion of his first photographic course in early 1941. Second from the top right.

I felt it best not to have her in a home with another cat, Lucy can be a handful. Turns out though, there were two other people interested in her, she will have a home soon.

@bearcave young eyes for sure even if their bodies were old!
I saw this in Vegas at the Treasure Island Casino. The scale is much greater on this mammoth ivory carving but I'm still in awe of the artistry and craftmanship.
