Would you buy this for under $40. New photos of coin in hand.
Even with bad photos just because you assume the poor photos are hiding a great colored color?

I don’t see $40 bucks worth of color.
I could buy some lotto tickets instead....
Wrong holder (which is also damaged), extremely common coin. Pass.
I have a very similar coin also on NGC plastic, and I love it. Mine has a golden hue, probably like this one.
But I don't like the cracked slab.
I recommend owning a high grade buffalo, but don't overpay or settle for defective plastic on a common date. There are others out there.
Pass.
Pass also
No for me.

Nyet!
Personally, I would. I think if it turns out to have a reddish golden lustrous patina you will have done well. Bonus if it turns out there is vibrant green toning hidden in the devices too! I like it and your risk vs reward is minimal IMHO.

Somebody on eBay thought it was worth $43.45. https://ebay.com/itm/133503673643?_trksid=p2471758.m4703
I'd have bought it for that price (If I liked it).
Based on the photo just looking like it's a bit dark, off on white balance, and the coin likely golden which is extremely common, no, I wouldn't bother. Gold toning is common enough that I'd just buy a coin I could see well if I wanted one, or I'd spend some more money to buy an overall nicer coin.
I would pass on this coin.
There are like 15 38-Ds on Great Collections right now. Better pics and slabs.
Would I buy it for under $40, yes, but it would have to be pretty far under.
What do you mean wrong holder.?
I love the old white ANACS holders and there typical discount, I like to buy the coin, but love these holders too. Here’s some upgrades over the years as well as some I went after a good example of a series, I need a SLQ and a IHC next.
$15-20
I would not spend $5 for tarnish....either the coin itself is worth buying or it is not. Color/tarnish on a coin is reason for me to pass it by....Cheers, RickO

Absolutely not.
i wouldn't pay 20 for it
Love the older ANACS coins, but this is more like a $25 coin, IMO.

ricko...dippo...blasto...white'o ........ We got it.
The small ANACs holders are often very conservative. That being said the 38D buffalo is one of the most available with toning and sometimes color. 40 is high retail plus for the coin shown. The coin below is in one of the small ANACS holders. Its been in my type set since I got it back from ANACS eons ago. It was about 5 bucks raw back then
For those saying the coin isn't worth even $20, I disagree. PCGS 64s sell for $25. Even as a raw coin, a gem would be worth $12-$15.
yes, I probably would
If it were cheap enough, I sure would. Too bad the slab is cracked. I like the small ANACS slab.

Looks like a pretty Buff. There are worse ways to spend $40.
After seeing your new images-yes I would.
