"Tom Seaver, the greatest of all Mets who dropped out of public life in March of 2019 after being diagnosed with dementia died early Monday. Accoring to family sources, Seaver, 75, died peacefully at his home in Calistoga, Calif., from complications from Lyme disease, dementia and COVID-19."

If true that he suffered from Lewy Body Dementia, that is the same condition Robin Williams was afflicted with.
I remember the family taking him out of the public eye maybe a year or two ago. I'm glad I got to see him pitch, he was tough as nails on the mound. RIP Mr. Seaver
Sorry to hear about his passing. He was an amazing pitcher and doesn’t always get his full due. Hopefully we do not lose more legends to Covid-19.

Growing up in Queens during the 1970s, I idolized Seaver. The Seaver-Grote battery is what I remember most fondly watching the Mets during that era.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
You could make a strong argument that post WW2 he is the best pitcher. He accomplished everything and also has the individual hardware to show for it. His ERA is awesome. He was a great strikeout pitcher also. Terrific.
So sad to hear this. I feel old! Seaver was a rookie the year I was born. He was my age not too long ago. It really puts life in perspective.

I would also like to add he was a great broadcaster. I loved him on WPIX doing the games with Phil Rizzuto. They were more entertaining than the game.
As a Cub fan, I always tried to get to Wrigley when the greats came to town. And Tom Seaver was one of them. Saw him both as a Met and Red.
