I received this email.
"NGC Registry user Maxum tried to add NGC # 342853-004 to their inventory, but failed because it is currently registered to you.
Here are the coin details:
Coin: NGC # 342853-004
Description: 1957 1C
Grade: PF 67 RD CAMEO
Please choose one of the following options:
Accept Transfer
Reject Transfer
Note: This coin will be automatically transferred to Maxum and removed from your competitive sets in 3 days if you take no action."
Whats up? I don't own this coin

Did you ever own it? Either way, it sure seems like it would make more sense to post on the NGC forum and check with NGC, than to start a thread about it, here.

If you do or say nothing the coin will be transferred. Or you can "accept transfer" now to ease the frustration of the new owner trying to add it to his registry.
Either way the new owner is going to be assigned the coin.
If you contact NGC to say WTF?, and they miraculously act before 3 days is up, they will probably just shrug their shoulders and release it.

I never owned this coin. I've contacted NGC by email. And is this a PCGS exclusive forum?
I never owned or seen this coin. I was concerned that my account has been hacked. And yes I've contacted NGC.
I get that you don't own the coin. NGC has it mistakenly assigned to you. Another collector now owns it and wants to put it in his registry set. So why not just release it?
I don't see any hacking issue.
As I said, NGC will "fix" this by removing it from you and assigning it to the new owner. Alternatively you can accept the transfer now so the new owner doesn't have to wait any more.

I completely agree with Lance, if you don't own the coin release it so the new owner is not left hanging for the three days. I would also suggest that you check your inventory there to see if it is correct and contact NGC on any discrepancies.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
A couple weeks ago, I had an experience where I was notified by PCGS that someone was trying to add a coin that's registered to me to their registry set. The coin is in my inventory, and I have no intent to sell it. PCGS said they would deny the request.
Chances are someone accidentally typed in the cert number of your coin as they were trying to add their own new coin to their inventory. I’m sure this happens periodically.
My collecting “Pride & Joy” is my PCGS Registry Dansco 7070 Set:

so someone can transfer coins into their registry if the registered owner does not reply withing days? WTF

But the person making the request then has to upload photos of the slab, obverse and reverse, at the end of that three business day period for PCGS to make the switch. Plus, according to new PCGS policy, the photos can’t just be photos from the auction house, but now must be what I call “Ransom Style Photos”, like having a current dated newspaper in the photo with the slab!

That makes sense. I didn't think about it that way.
That would be a good case for denying the transfer request. If it was typed in error, it will only cause additional work for all involved to get it corrected.
I've been on both ends of these NGC messages but both were legit transactions. I generally wait until my sold coins are delivered before removing from my Registry but in this case, the new owner tried to add it while it was still in transit (at least according to the USPS website):
