@AsheLand, nice Charlotte Gold. I started looking at them and never realized how hard it would be to find a nice ...eye appealing piece. The strikes don’t seem to be that good on them... kind of funny that we both settled on the same o mint coin in similar grade. I had made offers on both a C and a D, but wasn’t able to reach an acceptable price, so went in the direction of no motto and an 0. From these updates, I think I will add some commem’s and perhaps a W to the list.
I find it always good to have a number of wants, so there is a ch ace to find the right coin at the right price.

The Charlotte doesn't have the best strike, but the color and surfaces are to die for! (in my opinion) I did however pay a decent price for it, not wholesale, but as much as I like the coin, to me, it was worth every penny! I paid 2550.

It's one of my best pieces. It also has a story and history that goes with it, dating back to 1958 in Asheville. I have the original letter that has been with it since 1958. My friend that I got it from wrote an article about it shortly before selling it to me.
Bringing up an old thread. I went to the SDB and pulled out my gold coins....Arranged them in how I view my type set to see what’s next. Many followed @asheland and I hope he posts an update in the coming weeks...as for me...while maybe upgrading a coin or too, I focused on expanding. You will see a few versions of motto and no motto, as well as a few mints...O;D (den) ;S which are at the end of the coins....also the raw coin is a no motto saint gaudens (which I may need to slab someday.
I did make strong offers for both a Da; and a C coin to expand my mint list, but both offers were rejected....alas, both dealers still have the coins I made offers on 5 months ago, but I no longer have the funds to make another run right now.
Not sure where I go next....I love the cc mint, as the Morgan cc’s were the first set I put together and an 84cc Morgan was the first real coin I remember saving for...so I am sure a cc mint will show up someday...
In reviewing my coins, I am not wowed by the type 3 $1 gold, nor the $3 gold, nor the $5 Liberty, so upgrades are possible, or perhaps a $10 no motto might get added. Most $10 no motto look a little different, want to say rough, or a rawer look, but that look is growing on me, especially CAC versions of the $10 no motto...The C and D mint are also on the list, but would need to sell some of my other non gold coins, as is a capped bust gold coin, but once again, that will take time and planning.
So, for those considering gold type sets , here is one version.
Nice coins @SimpleCollector !
Sadly, I let two of my set go, the Saint and type 3 $20. So my set lacks at the moment. They were both coins I wanted to upgrade eventually, and at $2,000 an ounce, I let them go. I still plan to replace them. I want a Saint in 66 and the type3 $20 to be a MS65. I am in no hurry and I know those coins, chosen carefully in those grades will satisfy.
@asheland I know the dilemma of selling, i let go a bunch of silver bars near the recent peak, and it allowed me to continue to pursue some items in this area and another area I collect.
Your feedback has helped as I always learn that there is more that I am missing. From your post, in addition to more mints, I will likely try to add a type 1 and type 2 Liberty $20.
I wish I could aspire to get higher grades, but nice looking coins at as small a premium over bullion is the sweet spot that I can live with, so I don’t anticipate anything over a 63 anytime soon.
Hopefully in another 3-6 months I will have another new coin or two and can provide the next update.

Indeed it's part of the set, but I am VERY fond of it. I've never seen a 64 graded Indian with this look, it's one of my all time favorites!

Congrats! That would be a great set to spend an evening with!
Great looking gold coins, asheland. A pleasure to look at the other sets posted, too.
