I think it’s just having fun with the coin looking like it has camo. I guess it wants to hide the fact it looks like an arcade token.

  • JimnightJimnight Posts: 10,846 ✭✭✭✭✭

    I don't care for it.

It does look like a camo cent, perhaps a designation to compete with cameo?

I do kind of like it, especially if you think of camouflage as mentioned in the title.

I like on the colored area goes around the C in cent.

I'm not being critical, but recommend putting an emoji or an additional explanation if you're just having fun. I assumed this was a real question and I'm guessing others did as well. Just a suggestion to avoid future misunderstandings

Believe it or not, before posting this cent I dipped it in acetone. It turned out this way afterwards. It really didn't look like this earlier. Probably because I let the acetone evaporate? Lol.

When I saw the thread title, I assumed it was a coin with an unusual toning pattern. I doubt that anyone thought some mint made a coin that was literally camouflaged.

Then again, our U.S. Mint should really consider this idea. Sept.11 is coming up? Or Veterans day?

Just a suggestion. Just because you can start multiple threads didn't mean you should.

It's just about being polite. Starting multiple threads on a $10 shopping spree pushes other things off the first page.

But you may do what you wish until the moderators enforce a thread count rule.

If I wanted to annoy everyone, including our hosts, I could easily prove the point here by dominating the first page with threads. Maybe the first two pages. Given how many "fans" I have, i think the reaction would be quite different after a couple days of seeing nothing but my threads on the first page.

Folks we have a more-or-less permanent page 1 thread on rejects from Coinstar machines, with a zillion posts, started by a member who is now banned God knows how long ago. (I guess that's what it's about, haven't opened it.) Relax. Don't open what you aren't interested in and if there is enough disinterest the thread dies. I like the whimsy view.

It's not a crime. I'm also not sure why suggesting that a shopping trip of dollar coins be in a single thread rather than multiple threads is so offensive.

Coinnut1977 is searching a box of cents. Do you think each find should go in one thread or in separate threads?

I find it ironic that you of all people are criticizing people for frivolous or boring threads. Not that long ago you started a thread about toilet paper, the pandemic, and a raw bicentennial quarter. I found that thread about as informative and entertaining as this one which is to say not at all. Out of the last 10 threads you started, at least 60% of them are about eBay. I’m not attacking you for what you post (many of my posts are hardly interesting either), but I do find it hypocritical. So maybe you understand how some might view your posts and might have more empathy for the OP.

I don’t really understand the censorship here. If you don’t like a thread close it and move on. If we removed the posts of limited educational value or that were annoying, we would lose 90+% of activity. I can’t imagine what new collectors lurking here think. This type of pile on can discourage new collectors. Some of you (not necessarily in this thread but other threads like it) come off as the angry, grumpy man sitting on his porch and screaming at passing people not to step on his lawn.

I didn't object to this thread. I objected to the 4 threads from the same low price shopping spree when they could have gone in a single thread which is what I suggested.

Since we are somehow now talking about me. I've started a total of 15 threads since January 1st most of which are public service announcements for people to look for the eBay bonus bucks announcements. I'll stop issuing those. Thank you for the constructive feedback. I'll let someone else post those.

Joeycoins has started 15 threads since June 1st. Again, I mostly don't care. But we did have multiple threads of $2 coins from the same shopping spree. Can I ignore them? Yup. And I do. But I stand by the constructive criticism that they all could have gone into the same thread, especially since all but one of them wasn't even asking a question about the coins. It was just a "see what I bought" thread.

You are missing the point. I don't have a problem with you or your threads. I was responding to someone talking about my threads. My point was that I do not start even a fraction of the threads you do.

My only constructive criticism remains the multiple threads from a single shopping spree. But, as I said, feel free to continue. Also, feel free to continue having a problem with me.
