When did PCGS start shipping UPS 3 Day Select?

GoldbullyGoldbully Posts: 17,651 ✭✭✭✭✭

Anyone else have their submission ship this way?

I have an order (my first) expected to be delivered today via UPS 3-Day Select. What shipping method did they use in the past?

That used to be the USPS Priority which would reach most of the mainland in two business days. Recently sent a coin to Tacoma, Washington and this is what I got as well.

I thought priority mail worked just fine. Cheaper, too.

Hello all, my most recent submission was shipped this way as well UPS 3 Day Select and it is day 3 and it has been delayed. They used to ship Priority Mail but I can tell you USPS Priority Mail is slow too. All due to COVID-19.

I have one coming USPS as of today, but it's to a PO box. I assume they're simply looking into the best, most cost effective shipping methods. Retail prices you see for USPS, UPS, and FedEx can't be compared with corporate rates for high volume shippers.

Have had 4 this past week come from UPS.

Strange as hell. Its actually, funny.

We have the same UPS guy for several years. He's at our shop approx 1x a week or so. Mainly for US mint deliveries.

Last week, he buzzes to have door opened and in he walks with what i immediately recognized as 3 PCGS submissions coming home.

Boy was i confused for a second. Our mail had not come yet, and I actually thought he got a job for the post office!

I am fond of the predictability of the Priority Mail, but as long as they find their way home timely , it doesn't really matter to me.

Has nothing to due with COVID-19. USPS office is in political hell right now. With the pending 400% price increase coming people need to find a more economic and reliable shipping method.

UPS is actually being hit harder than USPS. As UPS is the main shipper of Amazon. The past few months have been dubbed the 2020 mass peak season.

Agree, or PCGS is dealing with a new insurance company who may be requesting they use UPS instead. Who knows, but as long as I get my coins back safe and sound, that is all I care about.

Does this mean PCGS will re-adjust their outgoing shipping rates to their customers?

    I doubt it.

Depends on where you live - most of my deliveries are direct from Amazon, including the one delivered at 6;34am today.

The problem with USPS is that they are basically ignoring signature required protocol. I haven’t signed for a signature required package since the middle of March. Same thing with a 9K package that came today. One package was left in the arm pit of a 12 ft cactus at the front of the yard. Maybe the cactus signed for it

I got a ups order from our host today shipped to my office. Although the package is supposed to be signed for, the ups guy just brought it in, said hi, left it on the front desk and was back out the door.

I guess there was no large cactus by the desk?

Turns out my 3 day UPS delivery will now be two days.

Originally scheduled for Tuesday delivery, now a Monday delivery.

    I like it.

I talked to my UPS driver. They are not accepting customer signatures due to COVID-19. They ask your name and sign for you

This is the second time my PCGS package will be delivered in two days instead of three(2 for 2).

Also, I will not be home so I will not have to sign since I OK'd the UPS shipment release.
