I was left a good number of gold & colonial coins from my grandfather.
I have colonial coins that have been sitting our safe for almost 40 years
now, and I am curious about some of the coins.
The note with this coin is:
1787 New York Cent / Obv-Rev Eagle
I am considering sending this coin in for grading?
Any opinions on it would be appreciated ....
Thanks,
Al / USMC

Not genuine - looks like a very crude replica, though that obv and rev do not exist together on any real coin.

From what I have seen in these recent posts, you have inherited a bunch of replica-fantasy-copy pieces (take your pick) that were sometimes sold at historical sites and packaged along with fake parchment, as well.

I remember when I was a teeniebooper I got a set of Colonials mounted picture frame style from a family friend. Obviously they were made for the picture. There were many like this in the set. One stuck out...a California Gold Ingot that was convincing(out of place as all the others were colonials). I took it to the flea market where all the ole rip off artists were. I think I was 13. I traded that sucker for over $200 worth of coins in the early 70's! Even then if it had been real it would have been worth thousands then!
