What is the point of making an offer on eBay that's only good for 12 hours...

I've had some luck with short term offers but if the coin is special like with great toning or something,
it could be gone by the time the seller responds...if they respond!
Ebay only allows a minimum of 24 hours on an offer. If it's only 12 hours left then that's how much time is left for the listing. I've accepted quite a few offers with less than 12 hours left!
According to eBay, you can make the offer good for 12 hours, 1 day or 2 days.
Sometimes you don’t want to give buyer more time to think. That’s why you give the buyer only 12 hours
I'm talking about the buyer only giving the seller 12 hours. Starting at 3AM. So the offer ends at 3PM , before the seller is even home from work and able to check his email.
The hope is the seller checks their email before work. Plus many people are still currently at home and many have email notifications on their phones.
If you make the offer good for a day, you don't have to hope the seller checks his email before work.
I’m not saying it makes sense; I’m just saying what the thinking might be. Quite a few people on eBay are not rational. I just recently had a person ask about the weight of a coin that had no precious metal content. I don’t know why but it’s just part of what you get on eBay.
sometimes youre shopping for something as a buyer and there are many BIN or Best Offer
listings. If you only need qty=1, then its best to make your Best offer as short a time as
possible so you can move on to another seller instead of being strung out by the first
seller if he never responds or does not make counter offer in timely manner.
Also did you check the location of the buyer? Maybe they are from an overseas country and didn’t think about the time difference (and wanted an answer within 12 hours).
I usually see the short term offers when bucks promotions are active. People don’t want to wait two days to be declined and miss the extra bucks.
FWIW I get my eBay notifications on my phone so I don’t have to check my emails for offers.

Sounds reasonable, I guess. Making that offer at 3AM would seem to work against a fast response, though.
I only sell to US addresses. Just checked the guy's id, it says "Based in United States".
I sometimes get offers 10 minutes before a listing ends. Waste of time for the offeror as I typically never even see the offer until after the auction closes.
It's much different when you have the eBay mobile app on your phone.
I agree. Usually after I make an offer I can’t wait for their answer and I just go forward and buy it out right! Problem solved!
As a buyer when I make offer I only give 12 hours because for one I don’t want to wait too long. If seller decline it, That’s fine with me. I will move on. I also don’t want to give seller time to think too long.

Hmmm, I've seen 1 + 2 days but never noticed 12 hours. I'll check it out.
Ok- now I'm really confused. Buyer made another offer this afternoon, higher than the first one.
