My son's 11th birthday is coming up in a few days. I've encouraged him to collect across lots of areas but he just doesn't seem to have the same passion his dad does. I keep hoping something will fire up his passion.
But he's a big fan of the show Stranger Things. The show's creators drew influences from many areas--among them the Marvel Comics "X-Men" series of the early 1980s. Those familiar with the show may know that the central character, Eleven, was in many ways styled after the X-men character Jean Grey. So much show that in the pilot episode of Stranger Things (The Vanishing of Will Byers), the last thing we hear Will say before he vanishes is "I'll take your X-Men 134!", which was the beginning of the Jean Gray / Dark Phoenix arc.
Anyway, I searched for and found a pretty good copy of Xmen 134. It's been fun to reawaken my short-lived comic collecting self way back in the mid-1980s, and to see where the hobbies cross paths. This one is graded ATS on a scale of 1-10. Hope he likes it...
