Simple question about resubmitting CAC previously stickered coins.

WaterSportWaterSport Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭✭✭

I have two CAC coins I cherry picked and sent to PCGS to get attributed labels. Both coins kept the same serial number but of course got new holders. They now show up in my inventory as CAC stickered – only they are not. Is there going to be an issue resubmitting these coins now that they are technically the same coin, only with attributions on the label? I would think not, but has anyone here done it??

And if they will resticker , which one of you kind forum members would be willing to send them in for me down the road when life becomes normal again?

I have never done what you need but from all that I have read it will not be an issue, if I recall correctly it's $3 to reapply the bean.

It's annoying that PCGS plays this game. Where's that thread about casual coin annoyances?

I’ll do a submission later this year. I could send them for you. Remind me this summer.

    What game is PCGS playing?

Sounds like PCGS re-encapsulated the coin with a new label containing an attribution. Is PCGS responsible for a sticker on the plastic shell?

What "game" is PCGS supposedly playing? Why should they care at all about some other company's "stickers? This is not a PCGS problem.

"Why should they care?" Should they? I don't know, but they certainly DO care since they went through the trouble to make a specific column in Registry inventory to indicate if your coin is CAC or not.

What “game“ are you talking about? PCGS provided the attributions requested and had no choice but to re-holder the coins.

Indicating in Registry inventory if a coin is CAC or not.

PCGS isn't actually playing a game with this. If new labels (ie...new plastic) was the result of being sent in to PCGS (after being CAC'ed), PCGS is a separate business/entity and doesn't sticker. So, they don't scrape off, and reapply, the stickers, nor do they have stickers to put back on with the new plastic (nor would they).

That's just one of the pains of a plastic TPGS and a stickering service. Different entities, different businesses, different locations.

The bigger cost to restickering isn't the $3, or whatever they charge, it's the shipping/handling/insurance to do it.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Lol - I had second thoughts about posting this...But, many stepped up to offer assistance and I am grateful and have worked something out so this thread is now closed!

To specifically answer your question, there is definitely no problem at all, since the cert numbers remained the same. I do this all the time when coins with CAC’s get sent back to PCGS for “Reconsideration” and come back with a “+”. With that method of submission to PCGS, they retain the same cert number. CAC does not recognize “+” grades, so on the submission form, the nice gentleman submitting them for you just checks “Re-Sticker”. The fee is then only $3 per coin plus a $5 handling fee per form (not per coin) instead of the normal $15 per coin for coins valued less than $10,000.

Stay safe, and have a nice weekend.

I’m confused as to what other expectations from PCGS exist.
