You’ve posted plenty of coins that some people probably don’t like or care about and I don’t recall anyone commenting as you just did. But even if they did, it doesn’t excuse your comment.

Not to derail the thread, but I don't really want to participate in a forum where no one is allowed to disparage anything. Certain people disparage toning religiously. Their loss, as far as I am concerned.
Furthermore, @DIMEMAN made me laugh, which is worth something.
I think it’s fairly easy to disparage a coin without also disparaging collectors, by using terms such as “stoopid money”. And there are plenty of things people can say to make others laugh, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s appropriate.

You’re right, there’s a big difference. I and some others would find the New Rochelle to be far more interesting. But I doubt that we’d say you paid “stoopid money” for your coin.
Beauty and interest are in the eye of the beholder. I bet that if you ponder that for a moment, you might even agree.

Dimeman. The New Rochelle is beyond cool. After about 55 years of collecting, it gets me just as excited as any Mercury Dime variety I need a 20 power to enjoy. You can appreciate my honest assessment here... yes?

Of course I can Mitch. I can see collecting anything in any grade. I just stated that it was stupid (I actually was agreeing with another poster) money for what you get. I did not intend to imply that the buyer was stupid. Only the price, but it is his/her money to spend as they want.

I was going to buy some G-4s and get started on a plague project, but there don't seem to be any. I hope the plague doesn't last long enough that I could wear an XF down in my pocket.
For this and absolute rarities, I like to use 3 numbers.

Honestly . . .very seriously . . .I had to overlay a New Rochelle over the top of this to see if I was even looking at the obverse or reverse. I say BRAVO to whomever had/made/acquired this piece. If it takes a master grader to even decipher what the basic design is . . . . . then I think you REALLY have something for a low-ball set.

I wonder what would have happened if the coin has been posted by someone, asking for help in identifying it. For example, without the benefit of any clues, how many of the posters to this thread would have known the coin was a New Rochelle?

I’ve been down with early commemoratives for years and I had to literally compare an image real quick.
I personally think lowball is lunacy but to each their own. The joy this coin is bringing to its new owner is what this numismatic thing is supposed to be all about.

FWIW, I'll guess $1500, most of which was for a label that said both Pogue and PO1. Would CAC sticker it, or does the fingerprint on the reverse knock it from contention?

CAC did sticker it. But even if they hadn’t, I think a print on a (heavily) worn coin would be far less likely to disqualify it than one on a high grade mint state or Proof example.
