I called the Baltimore Convention Center themselves, they just told me that they are "monitoring things" and "taking it day to day". I take it that means we hear about a cancellation at some point in the next 96 hours.

I think we can say with reasonable confidence that those areas that have taken measures to slow the spread have seen some measure of success. The question then becomes, how much isolation is enough and how much causes more harm than good. That’s a very tough question to answer, especially with big holes in our understanding.

I doubt we find this out until it’s all over. 14 days seems to be be working as arbitrary as it seems. I would look to China and South Korea for a quasi blue print. The virus seems well under control there now

I'm posting in this discussion because I just learned that ICG will not be attending the Baltimore show as was planned.
That is a FACT you can believe 100%. :) Here are some others:

FACT: Folks choose where to get the news.
FACT: Where you choose to get your news is the sole or a major influence on what you "know."
FACT: If anyone here even thinks they are getting the complete science and facts to base their thinking on from ANY ONE news source, they deserve to be uninformed.
FACT: Both science and facts are twisted every day to suit an agenda.

Unfortunately people believe what they want to believe regardless of whatever facts or science gets brought to the table . Whatever makes things easier for them and their deep rooted beliefs to handle is what is taken away

Fake News literally means anything that doesn’t fit ones point of view or beliefs gets dismissed by saying it’s false. That’s it. You don’t even have to debate. So incredibly weak and dangerous.

I think I understand what you are saying, however, if even a little of all the information that is available and proven to be correct is withheld from a person they will never be able to form a VALID opinion of what they are considering.

Example: If a diamond has 100 flaws and ONLY 100 flaws, MY OPINION of the number of flaws in that stone will be based on and solely influenced by what the jeweler and testing lab say based on how they examined the diamond.

JUST AS WITH MY NEWS SOURCES I don't have the option of determining how many flaws are actually in the stone UNLESS I personally make it my job to inform myself by whatever the means it takes. Remember, the diamond only has 100 flaws. They are there for anyone to see if they try hard enough and REFUSE to be spoon-fed by others.

One sign of an educated person is the ability to change their opinion when confronted with irrefutable facts.

PS I have found that in most cases, two people can sit down together and agree on many things when both are fully informed either at the beginning of the conversation or with a little independent research. We do it every day while discussing the authenticity and grades of specific coins.

They said all city permitted events, that they couldn't stop private events...Not sure but my thread got poofed? I'm guessing any show at the convention center has to be permitted, just so the city can collect an extra $500 or 1000 for allowing it. Big question what happens with Stacks auctions?

city permitted events = public events. Conferences count as permitted events.

Just receive this from my world hq in NY ( I live in LA)

    All,

In an abundance of caution, we are asking that all employees who can work from home please do so starting tomorrow and for the following two weeks. Please let your manager know whether or not you plan to work from home so that our teams remain well coordinated.

We are working diligently with our IT Department to order additional laptops and provide software and other resources to promote remote work. If you are unable to work remotely because you do not have the proper technology, please let your manager know and we will work with you to figure out a resolution as soon as possible.

We ask all employees to log into their ADP Dashboard and confirm that their personal contact information is accurate and update if necessary. Please share your contact information with other employees you deem necessary in order to maintain business continuity and communication.

For people who must come into the office to perform their jobs, we expect that having fewer people in the office will meaningfully reduce the risk of exposure and spread of viruses within our office. We also ask you to limit contact with others in the office, for instance by avoiding in-person meetings, keeping a safe distance (6 ft.) from one another, and encouraging people who don’t need to be in the office to stay home. We are prohibiting outside vendors, food delivery, and Fooda during this period. We are continuing to sanitize the office, as we have been over the past few weeks.

If you are sick or have any of the main symptoms associated with COVID-19 (fever, cough, or shortness of breath), or have been exposed to anyone who has these symptoms, you are required to stay home until you and those around you are fully recovered and you have medical clearance to return to the office. In addition, the following groups are being advised by health authorities to avoid interaction in large groups or public settings and should work from home:
    · Older adults, over 60
    · People with underlying health conditions
    · People who have a compromised immune system
    · Pregnant women

Since we do not have clarity on how long this guidance will be in place, we will evaluate the situation on an ongoing basis and provide regular updates as we receive additional information.

We recognize that this is an unprecedented and unique situation and appreciate your flexibility and support.

Unfortunately, it seems your definition of "fake news" is not the same as mine. "Fake news" to me is reporting anything based on a falsehood and knowing it is false. For example, saying ANACS was the first TPGS in the US was a bold face lie and the officials who who perpetuated that lie knew they were lying.

On the other hand, when someone makes a statement that they believe is true based on incomplete information that is NOT fake news. It happens all the time and a reputable person or news outlet would issue a correction when new info is forthcoming. For example: The Redbook publishes that a certain coin is unique. Then another turns up.

There is an ugly underbelly to most things in this world including numismatics. IMO, it is best to be ignorant of those things.

Agree 100%. She has a Harvard "education." The only way these educated people will change is when it comes from within as they become exposed to different ideas in a non confrontational setting as they search for answers out of their own curiosity. I don't want to converse with folks who agree with me! What am I going to learn from them?

I take the alerts seriously, this is a highly infectious virus. Testing has been weak, I have a couple friends who felt a little sick in the last week in various parts of CT who I haven't seen in weeks, one was tested, the other who is very healthy and active as a farm worker is not feeling good. He rarely gets sick. It is hard to get tested: CDC tested only 77 people this week; coronavirus testing slow around the nation
    https://news.yahoo.com/cdc-tested-o...testing-slow-around-the-nation-153646616.html

Local schools are shutting down with local cases popping up. A family man in his 40s is in a local hospital in a coma. https://www.ctpost.com/local/article/Wilton-COVID-19-patient-in-coma-wife-says-15120356.php

This should be taken very seriously. Harvard and Stanford students have been sent home, these are not scholarship students generally, but kids of the elite. Maybe they know something?

Still there will be a lot of business opportunities in Baltimore for those brave enough to go.
