Does anyone use one of those cheap digital microscopes that are on the market? If so, please make a recommendation or offer your advice. Thanks! :)

    What do you call cheap?

Digital Blue Childs microscope is cheap. Older models need drivers so you have to find them on the web if you can and download them. I see they still make them and sell them on Amazon. Used one for years! weak points were not enough light so I had small flash light handy. Had to cut the tabs on the bottom of the lens so a slab would fit. Strong points, one click shots to computer screen. I think it had 10, 60 and 200 magnification settings . Never used the 10 and 60 would get you a good close up and 200 a mint mark.

I was looking at hand-held magnifiers on ebay, and some of these cheap microscopes for $20 to $40 popped up. I just wondered how good they are and if anyone uses any of them.

    Thanks ws for your reply.

The stands are garbage so if you have something you can attach it to, even with tape or rubber band, you are better off.
I'd bet most of the cheap microscopes come out of the same factory in China.
I have a brandless one that was under $20 I think, it's ok but can only zoom in so far through a slab. It's the type with LED lights around the lens and brightness can be adjusted.
I haven't used it in a while but here are a couple example shots.

Yeah, aren't those some great shots though? I too have a cheap one. Don't need the stand.
Like you said, too fragile and weak. I'm so used to mine now, I hold it like a pencil and adjust it perfectly. I'm very satisfied with my cheap China product.Lol. Worth the small amount of cash. As a matter of fact, I bought an extra one that's been sitting in my closet, just in case. With the money I save, I can buy more coins instead. 😁

I use the USB Plugable Microsope that's on Amazon... really easy to use... just plug in and it works... but if you download the free software it comes with then you can do a bit more with it. I think it was about $40.

Once you figure out the different zoom on it, it is pretty cool.
