Have you noticed how ebay sellers sell their coins that are in older holders.

They all talk them up no matter if they coins are under graded or not. Rarely does an ebay seller not mention how PQ, Undergraded, etc a coin in an older holder is. They use what I call the hope method in order to sell it and get more than its worth or more than the grade on the holder. I wish they would shut up and just allow the buyer to determine the grade. I hate returning items I buy off ebay especially with the new painful PayPal return policies but maybe just maybe with the risk the ebay seller will have to pay a fee on the return that maybe they will stop exaggerating said grade in order to sell it at a premium.

I was told by an eBay rep some time ago that buyers are not required to read the descriptions or the titles. Seems like that would solve the problem of sellers talking up a coin.
That sounds very similar to what non-Ebay sellers do. That's not an Ebay issue, it's a seller issue.

It's called hype. Get over it.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

i wish McDonald’s would stop telling me how great their burgers are, almost never as good as advertised and the return policy is a much bigger mess than ebays.

I have this crappy coin. No one will ever like the look of this piece of garbage. Please buy it.
Wow, never met a salesman, 'eh? Hawk and talk. If you sell something best talk it up. Never heard a sales pitch that called it a dog, turd, or anything derogatory. It's part of the game.
Now, ebay does have rules on selling coins and if you would like you can point those rules out to the sellers if they are violating them. One rule is that sellers of coins disclose all issues or problems with the coins. So, if a seller is hyping a coin as DMPL and it's a polished turd, then turn them in to ebay.
What I hate is those pesky used car salesmen that point out all the flaws in a car, why don't they just sell it to me.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I've done similar. Had a Morgan dollar I listed described with Zits! Winner replied with his payment I guess I won the ugly coin!
I agree, and the hamburgers NEVER look like the ones in the commercial!
Any coin I don't own is overgraded. As soon as I own it, it's undergraded by at least 2 points.
I sell raw.... lower than most, starting at $.99. I don't need to say anything.

I hardly ever read the descriptions
...I sold all of my widgets as such on eBay...openly described as trash in plastic with shinny CAC beans...the trash that didn’t sticker was also noted as such...I sold it all no problem for my ask and wait for it..........without one single return. So honesty does work sometimes with our group of people’s (numismatist)...now tell me I gotta sell ice to an Eskimo and I would approach it differently
