help ID cob-style coin: Venezuelan royalist/republic real, or something else?

Can anyone help identify the origin of this cob style coin?

Someone suggested it may be an early 1800s Venezuela royalist and/or republican real (macuquina) as seen in Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins (C#12), but the reverse doesn't seem to quite match what is shown in the reference and also the date (56) isn't one of the dates listed.

It's approximately 2.5 grams, 19 or 20 mm.

So is it a Venezuelan real that's not quite the same as what is listed in the reference, or something else?

Any help would be appreciated.
