I might have to come back back and edit this answer. Too many to name. Top 10 is too hard.

Miles Davis (not rock but I will include him. 'Kind of Blue' still rocks my world. )
    Coltrane (not rock, but...)
    Beatles
    Zeppelin
    Replacements
    Van Halen
    Metallica
    Guns n Roses
    Modest Mouse
    Joe Satriani w/Stu Hamm

I did see Metallica w/ Guns n Roses in 1993? when they toured together. For some this would be prime, but for me it was well past it for both. Guns n Roses would have to be original lineup, and Metallica would have to be Justice tour or earlier.

I saw Van Halen w/ Hagar. AMAZING. But prime would be with Roth before they broke up originally.

Modest Mouse is by far my favorite band ever. Still never seen them, even though they are still touring and I have been a fan since 1998 (when most people had never heard of them- most people still haven't). Their prime was 2002 and earlier.

I have definitely seen a few great acts in their prime (but that is not what this is about)....

    Great topic @MCMLVTopps

Edit 1: I tried to name a few not on other lists above me. I would have loved to have seen essentially every act already named.

Saw Elvis live three times at the International Hilton in Vegas from 69-72.

    He was in his prime.

Forget his shows when he was overweight. Forget the billions of records he sold. Live is was made him the King.

You can't imagine the number of celebrities at these Las Vegas shows, who were in awe of his performances.

Any great singer/band (Beatles, etc) will tell you he was the best.

There has never been a more exciting live entertainer than a young Elvis.

ELVIS. Never caught him. Wasn't a fan then but now I wished I would have gone. No money then to get to Vegas.
In college, I heard a radio announcement for a Stones concert & in 5 minutes I was at a ticket joint. I'm thinking 1972. I get the two I was allotted & sold them on KSAN that night. I needed the money.
I missed the Stones at Altamont when I was in high school. My dad asked where we were going-'Dad, to go see the Rolling Stone's. "The he'll you are"
The Dead otherwise known as Jerry Garcia & friends. Several times. Too many drugs but great music. Billy Preston on keyboards.
Huey Lewis & the News. Great show.
Wished I would have seen Airplane.
    Frank.
    ? & the Mysterions.

    Have a nice day
