Has anyone here ever gone to their PO and tried to have a registered package rerouted/forwarded to an address other than their own? Right now it's smoewhere in NY, but eventually headed to the west. Is it possible to have it re-routed to the west address?

Sounds like a gamble to me.
The whole point of registered is getting it from original point A to point B safely.
In answer to your question, no.
You could try this:
https://www.usps.com/manage/package-intercept.htm
edited to add... it looks like this might only offer the option to return to sender. Found this:
Return to Sender is the only intercept option available for Registered Mail® service. Registered Mail items are returned with the original Registered Mail number, and are not re-labeled or re-packaged.
I don't think that can be done.
Need some more details, Bajj. Are you the sender or the recipient? If it is only a matter of convenience, i wouldn't mess with it. if was mis addressed that is a different matter.
Just trying to save the cost and hassle of re-mailing.
Has anyone sent a coin to CAC and asked them to send it back to the owner instead of the submitter?
A board member wanted to submit to CAC so I filled out a form and sent it to him. He sent it to CAC, but it's coming back to me, so I'll have to send it back to him.
Best to leave it alone in my opinion. It will be easier to resend the coin when you receive it.
Did it sticker??
It did.
Since registered is used for high value ($800+, insured, and it actually becomes cheaper to use registered), mine are all marked "Return Service Requested Do Not Forward." Scammers like to have them rerouted.
I want mine going to the paypal address only or back to me. I have submitted an "intercept" with USPS while en route and had them returned to the return address. The nice thing about slow registered is that an authorized credit card charge will normally surface before delivery giving me time for the interception.

your best bet is to phone the request to their toll free number. It's how I have registered intercepted and returned to me. The customer svc. rep is able to communicate directly with the branch(s) where the shipment is headed or currently held at.

But getting it returned to sender is easier than routed to a different address. You'd have to somehow verify you were either the sender or the recipient.
IDK. But, somehow, I kind of feel like it should be impossible to re-route a registered package without an act of Congress.

I would just go to my PO and have them forward it when it arrives there. Anyone done that?
Like I said their phone rep may be able to reroute it now from where ever it is, why wait for it to get back to your PO? Your PO may require you to take delivery and then have you reship at a new registered fee.

I am getting tingles in the bad way about messing with a registered package.
I would like to think it is one of the only bulletproof methods left for knowing it will arrive to the original destination. I have a high respect for their slow but reliable method.
Good luck!
I had reason to recall a registered mail shipment I made several years ago. I had to go to the post office and fill out and sign a form to get them to make an attempt to return the package to me. I would be surprised to learn you could get a package rerouted with a phone call.
I don't think you can do it unless you are the sender.
Or you could also call the destination PO and ask them to write refuse on it and it will be returned to you no extra charge.
Have you done that before? Because it seems unlikely I could get the item returned by the receiving PO with just a phone call when the shipping PO requires a signed form to get it back.
edited to add... FWIW, I needed to show my original receipt for the registered shipment to the PO to get the package recalled. I'm not sure how that would work over the phone.
No, I have not.
I did send something to a member here who decided he did not want it so I told him to write refuse on it and hand it back. You have nothing to lose by trying. Or maybe your PO would do that for you.
I rerouted a registered once. Worked just fine. You fill out a form online.
and there you have it.

I'm just going to go with the flow this time.
Slightly OT, the last registered package I got (a couple weeks ago), never showed up the day it was supposed to be delivered (I just love waiting at home for a package I have to sign for that never comes) and was never checked back in at the post office. It arrived the next day just left at my door with no notification (my doorbell works) nor any signature required.
Okay, I'm done ranting. Thanks for listening.
Did it get delivered to a neighbor by mistake who then put it at your door? I would ask to see the signatures.

Three letters. POB.
Two words: No Worries.
you can request an emailed PDF of the signature from where you view the tracking at the USPS site.

No. I do know how to look at a tracking page. This is what it looked like the next day.
No way to do that, since it wasn't signed for. Where would the button normally be?
Sorry should have clarified. PDF can be requested at any time, even before delivery (but not available until after delivery) when the sender requested "electronic return receipt" at the counter at the time of shipment. Cost is $1..60 and I choose it over signature confirmation because it is cheaper and requires no form. Ebay/PP accept it as proof of delivery because they can also view the delivery info and signature on-line.
When in tracking for the registered shipment look under "Return Receipt Electronic."
