eBay just lowered fees to 0% on sales over $100...
...but it's only for athletic shoes.
Will they consider doing the same for the coins and paper money category?

I occasionally get seller FVF discount offers. Currently have one that caps FV fees at $10 on the first ten items sold. Problem is they usually do not apply to coin categories.
No Way Out: Stimulus and Money Printing Are the Only Path Left
Ebay is scrambling.
I've had those as well. They worked well combined with one of those 15% off coupons eBay occasionally has had (when people are searching for bullion in the collectibles category).
However, this is the first I've seen of a category having a special status of no seller fees and applying to all sellers. Plus I don't see any time limit, so this might be a relatively permanent change.
They are trying to draw in all the shoe collectors.
The problem is, how are they going to make anything with 0 in fees and paying out eBay bucks to people that purchase in that category? Is the idea that this will bring in many new buyers who will also buy from other categories? I'm not so sure that will be the case. We might even see more fee increases in other categories to offset the shoe category.
I wonder if cent loafers qualify?
I saw what you did there @Coinstartled and I wholeheartedly approve!

Only if they are stickered.
They are going to go for promoted listing fees. The average trending in this category must be high enough, if sellers are willing to volunteer 8-12% to have their listings show up higher eBay doesn't have to mandate a fee.

That seems plausible. Still, how many people will go for promoted listings? It certainly won't be 100% of sales. The hope it seems would be that there are more promoted listing sales than total sales under the previous fee structure.
What I wonder is how they stop people from putting anything in that category.
Might be time to prop up a nice $20 double eagle against a pair of cheap shoes 😁

The Coins category is always picked on!

I doubt they do unless someone manually reports the listing.
Today I learned that there was also a $100 off $300+ coupon for the shoes category yesterday. Combined with no fees, that was a real opportunity. But eBay quickly took the coupon down (from what I read on a deals forum, people were abusing the offer).
