…...and take the bus into Chicago, IL. Going on day 16 here, my wife has received her lung transplant. Just thought I'd throw this question out there. Thanks Leon

Many of the suburbs have parking areas adjunct to the commuter train stops where you can park and ride the train into downtown.

A train ticket to the city from the suburbs is fairly cheap

If your talking "Downtown Chicago", many spots just off Michigan Ave. They're not that cheap as the old days but still cheaper than parking in any Downtown Garage. $8 for 2 Hours on the street. Using the Meter method. The "Boxes" take cash or credit cards. $8 for 2 HRS. isn't bad nowadays.

Oh. I see. I don't exactly know your whereabouts but you can try parking the car on any side street? On my block, there are cars parked in the same spot for weeks. Just make sure you park in a safe spot. If you know what i mean.

We use an app called Spot Hero and park at the self park garage on Ontario and Rush. Very affordable rate versus the 48$ daily.
For extended parking we use “PreFlight” off Mannheim Rd. They have free shuttle to the airport or Hilton and you could take train into the city.

Start with which train line is closest to the hospital and then check the CTA/Metro maps for park & rides.

My heart goes out to your wife. And you. I hope and pray for you both. There are no words. But...think positive and smile. It's the best medicine. God Bless you both.

Cermak & Wentworth in Chinatown is the cheapest I've seen. Not a bad area, open surface lot and a lot of consistent auto and foot traffic. Red Line L less than a block.

Forgot.. last time I was there it was $15/24 hours.

... but watch out ... some of the cities charge non-residents to park and ticket those who don't know about this. For example, if you want to use the commuter rail parking lots in Flossmoor (a southern suburb) you will have to go to the city hall and pay a $3 per day fee for a parking pass.

A coin buddy that lives close by with an extra car would be great.

Godspeed to your wife and you.

Many of these suburban train stations charge for parking. Less than the city, but no free lunch.

In the city all neighborhoods are zoned where residents have to have stickers to park on side streets in their zone. You can park on main streets without stickers but if it snows you have to get out for the plows.

Best bet is to park at Rosemont (or similar train parking lot) and take the train in.

This is why I'd never live in the city.

Best wishes for you and your wife.

Best to avoid chitcago all together, but it sounds like it's too late.
Parked at northwestern hospital once, costs $24/day. I'll never make that mistake again.

    That’s not bad in Chicago.
