  If the coin is $4k in a problem-free VF slab, then is almost $1k for the subject coin really a cherry-pick? That graffito in the right obverse field is prominent.

  Maybe, maybe not. It has been a few years since the last example surfaced and another few years for the one before that.

  I have it on good authority that at least one of the early Mexican "Royals" in the Millennia Collection had a hole "expertly repaired" such that NGC straight graded it without notation on the holder. So yes, it happens.
