Hi folks. As has been discussed on other threads, PayPal changed policy so that it now keeps the 2.9%+$0.30 fee when it executes a refund on a return. One member says they heard that the PayPal change doesn't apply to eBay sales. Can anyone confirm whether they did or did not get the PayPal fees refunded?

I made a refund to a buyer on Nov. 7 and did not get a refund for the fees paid on the initial transaction.

That's what I understood it to be. There's nothing in either platforms policies that suggests otherwise, but I wanted to try and get clarification.

PayPal's User Agreement is quite clear on that.

I thought so, but it has come up twice in the last month. And we should now be able to see it in action.

Actually, coin sales have suddenly spiked. High priced items still sluggish, but business booming in the $50 and under range.

Reasonable I suppose for Paypal to retain the fee on credit card sourced payments, but on funds originated from the buyers balance or bank account seems a bit of an overreach.

All payment processors do it. Some even charge a second fee for the refund. It's not an overreach. People want to think of a sale and a return as being NO transaction. In fact, a sale and a return is TWO transactions.

I had a buyer purchase and pay for an item, and then ask to cancel the sale.

I cancelled the sale on ebay, and all the paypal fees were refunded also, so it was ZERO cost to me.

Yes, and having a GREAT month so far, no matter what "comments" might be made.

Maybe I will go buy another 100 reverse proofs.

Well that's good news if they are refunding the fees for a cancellation. Doesn't happen often, but spending 3% for a 5 minute impulse of someone else would kind of smart.

I think the sales tax is starting to be accepted more. I've seen a huge increase in volume in the last 2 weeks.

If I could buy 1000 more reverse proofs, I might...especially at issue price.
