Heritage Not Accepting Credit Card Payment? - Updated

A bought a single coin at the most recent weekly HA auction (just over $250 with BP and postage). When I went to pay the invoice, I was greeted with a note indicating that I could not pay by credit card; my only options are wire and check (the first is not cost effective and the second - given my NZ locale - not practical). I have, by the way, made many purchases from HA in the past - all paid with a credit card.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

I tried to ring HA but was eventually kicked to voice mail (during business hours). I have since sent a written request for clarification but thought I'd tap the brain trust here in the meantime.

Do you hear that? That would be the sound of numerous accounts going elsewhere...until card (CC & Debit) purchases can be made again. Perhaps this is a "routine" down for maintenance thing?

Just received a call from Heritage. A bug in the system which is being corrected. Credit card payment accepted.

Interestingly, I was told by the representative that her VP had seen my "post".

Anyway, well done to HA for clearing this up quickly.

Heritage accepts credit cards for auction purchases of any amount. There are exceptions (specifically new international clients), but we should have shown the option to pay this invoice by credit card since the poster was an existing customer.

This is a bug on our end, and we are fixing it.

Stewart — of any amount for CC payments? I thought it was capped at invoice total of $2500?

In 2013 at the CICF in Chicago, after I won the two lots I bid on, I went to
pay with CC. My total all in was over $10K. I was told that I would have to send
a check from home. The LARGEST coin auction company, their words and statement, does
not accept CC for $2500+ auction winnings. MUCH smaller companies accept
CC for most any amount over $100. At that time Pay Pal was not an option.
Accept CC for any amount and tack on the 3-5% fee. If the fee is not palatable,
then find other options. I may be wrong but CC are the wave of the future.
