I have this cat that's been around since 2003. In the last few months, it has taken on an unbearable odor. Lately, we have given this cat a bit of stress through the number of baths which is turning out to be a weekly thing. I believe its deteriorating through old aging. There are no visible ailments or sores, only occasional coughing. As I sit at my desk and my cat lays curled up on my sofa some 10 yards away, this cat has the entire room stunk up. I'm sorry about the OP's loss, I've had a few dogs in the past but I can't help thinking how I'll be glad when this cat goes. I actually have a hole dug up for this cat. I had another cat (only 3 years old) drop dead of a heart attack before last winter. Dug the hole extra deep thinking my old cat may go during the winter and how frozen the ground can get through winter. The thought has crossed my mind to take it in to the vet and have it put to sleep. My wife suffers from severe COPD and I have kidded with her which of the two will go first. The least, she doesn't stink as bad as the cat. lol

None of my beeswax but my advice would be to take the cat to a vet. It may be something simple that you're overlooking or you could save the cat from a lot of suffering.

Our little friends make our lives special. Hope you and your wife feel better soon, you gave your little girl a nice life.
Buck up. It does pass.

We didn't even get Annie til she was 15!
Took her from an abusive home to a good one. She had another 3 good years.

So sorry for your loss. Always keep her in your memories! My best friend left me last year, he was a Cocker Spaniel and just loved swimming!!
I'm so sorry! Our female Shih Tsu left us this year at nearly 17. It gets easier, but I still miss her every day.
Here is a pretty coin I own. It is shown in PCGS coin facts.
