2021 American Liberty - CCAC recommended design revealed. (Updated: The CFA checks in...)
Well, this is different...
Coin World is reporting the CCAC is recommending a different direction for American Liberty. A direction I applaud, considering the controversy surrounding the previous issues. Instead of a multi-racial/cultural Liberty, we're going an equine direction...

The gold high-relief coin will be the normal 1ozt 24K W-Mint, and the silver medal a 2.5ozt silver P-Mint.
According to the Mint:
The proposed obverse recommended by the CCAC depicts, according to the U.S. Mint’s design narrative, “a wild American Mustang horse, bucking off a western style saddle, evoking the throwing off of the yoke of British rule during the American Revolution.”
Uh, right. Whatever. @Hydrant was wondering what a "sensitive and caring multi-cultural eagle looks like." Well, here it is. No talons, no arrows (but no olive branch, either). The beak isn't even razor sharp.
They still won't get me to bite on the gold if prices remain the same as today, but I'd for sure do the silver medal, assuming the design translates to a decent image when struck...
(Looking at the design again, it's a horse Ghost Rider would be proud to have ridden...

The reverse doesn’t look too bad, but the horse has to be one of the silliest design proposals I’ve seen the CCAC come up with. I was under the impression that the CCAC was intended to come up with good coin designs, but I guess I must be misinformed since they’ve yet to do that.
EDIT: For some reason I thought this was the CCAC’s suggested design for the ASE redesign that’s supposedly happening in 2021. Since it’s not, I guess the design is slightly less silly, but I still wouldn’t buy one.

I do not like either the obverse or reverse. The recent past offers were hideous. But I guess that's the sign of the times,. What's next - color, glow in the dark, 3D offerings?

Wow! Throughout the upcoming centuries, this design will no doubt be heralded as a stylistic masterpiece of numismatic art.... the very moment coin design leapt forward to new pinnacles of excellence.

They are symbolizing "the yoke of British rule" as an unbuckled Western-style saddle? Say what? What did the British rule during the American Revolution have to do with The Old West? Who dreams this stuff up? I agree - there should be a peyote cactus somewhere in the mix.

The sun depicted on the obverse is misplaced clip art that clutters the meaningless imagery.
Just nix the saddle and the horse is better suited to Michael Murphey's song, "Wildfire".

Who was the unfortunate rider and where did they land ?
If this design is used I predict a low-mintage issue (due to reduced demand).

A literal WTF with this design. And I don't cuss. But this kinda makes me want to. Well why is it bucking off a WESTERN saddle and not an english one??? You can't get more american than the western cowboy. Buck off a dang english saddle for goodness gracious. I think the whole idea is odd.

St. Gaudens would be proud of the artistic growth we have experienced. The baseball cap is a touch of excellence. Move over James Earle Fraser, the Buffalo is taking backseat to the Horse!!! Liberty represents the freedom of a horse shaking off a saddle with a broken strap and no reins. I'm all for new designs, but this modern style looks more like a token illustration worthy of a fleeting quarter design or an innobuck.

Anyone know if that would be the first Muslim on a US coin? And holding "In God We Trust", which would mean Allah for her. I know this has the potential to get ugly, so keep it civil.. I researched a bit but could not find any info.

The drawing of the woman with a headscarf my not be for anything except to keep her hair in-place when it’s windy. Just saying. I do not know the Artist’s true intent.

The obverse with the three folks holding the banner is horrible, in my opinion, but my first thought when seeing the horse obverse was that the horse was a metaphor for modern-day American and LIBERTY was being thrown off of it!

Besides, I have ulterior motives for wanting another horse coin/medal...

If they really want to capture the American spirit, the sign should have a some poorly thought out argument about abortion, gun control, taxes, or climate change. That would be much more realistic. Oh, and the people holding the sign would be angrily yelling.
