Foreign planchet error?
keets
I have a 1951-D that seems like it may have been struck on a planchet for a foreign coin the US Mint was striking. It's dated 1951-D, weighs approximately 1.1gr and the diameter is 18mm. It looks like a normal Cent, just smaller and thinner with no rim and weak detail. Any help out there or is this just some type of clever counterfeit??
Thanks in advance.

Need photos, but based only
on your description, an acid
treated coin sounds plausible.

The question’s format is eerily similar to the many posted in the Q&A forum. Usually, the weight and diameter is omitted.
Typical response, “Please post a pic of the obverse, reverse, and edge [and find the weight and diameter],” or something similar.
Seconded

You make a good point.
The Mint Error News has an extensive spread sheet of foreign coins struck by the U.S. Mint. It includes weights and compositions. You can search to see if anything matches up with your coin.

It's a really nice resource and I have It bookmarked.
IMO It sounds a lot like the coin spent some time in an acidic environment, as others have said, but need pics to confirm
Thanks you
