US Philippines Coins with CAC stickers?

U1chicagoU1chicago Posts: 6,558 ✭✭✭✭✭

Does anyone know if CAC still stickers US Philippine coinage?

I don’t see it anywhere on their website but ran across this one just now on eBay (not mine). I also found an image of another that was sold some time back by David Lawrence.

Probably so, I believe most if not all of the U.S. / Philippine peso's were minted in the United States

These were minted in the US, but CAC doesn’t sticker plenty of coins that were minted in the US.

Must be something new I believe. I know Justin (monstercoinmart on eBay) has sold hundreds and hundreds of USPI coins and never sent a single coin to CAC for stickering.

    Thank you for the reply!

Will you/Justin start sending them in if CAC allows it now?

Will people start wanting the sticker now?

I'm sure people wouldn't mind the sticker being on it (except for a few grouches that lurk around here).

I doubt that CAC stickers US Philippines coins any longer. It is probably the same sort of deal as colonials, they use to review them when CAC first started but no longer do so. If you take a look at their website under "accepted coins", they don't mentionUS Philippines coins: https://www.caccoin.com/coins-accepted/

If you want to know for sure, I recommend emailing them and asking: info@caccoin.com

The cert pops up on CAC's website for what it is. But's it's news to me if CAC accepts Philippines coins.

I also looked through that list. I’m guessing you’re correct. Or it’s possible that some were stickered on accident (like a few Roosevelt Dimes that are known with a sticker).

I’ll send an email and report back if I get a reply.

    I checked that too.
And it was also news to me.

I just sent an email to CAC, so we’ll see if there is any news.

I am informed that a serious collector of USPI coins sent an email to CAC a few years back asking if they would sticker USPI coins and he never heard back from CAC.

If they are, indeed, stickering USPI coins, I believe that collector would probably still want his coins stickered.

I just heard back and they are not stickering these anymore.

“We accepted these coins through December of 2012, then discontinued verifying them.”

That's what I suspected was the case.

I've been a member since 2009, and I don't remember them ever advertising their service for these including on the "welcome" packet.

That’s the reply I received; I don’t know how accurate it is.

It might be just like with the Roosevelt Dimes with stickers, where they got by but weren’t intended to be stickered.

Some were minted in the US, but a lot were minted at the Manila mint, the only US mint ever to be located outside the US.
