Buddy was just slamming those cards around. Hit two howes and a hull in the last 4 packs. Slam!

Finally hits Gretz and is unimpressed, we don’t even get a close up.

Also how rich do you need to be to have someone pre open your wax packs? In that much of a rush to get to your OC Gretz?

Edited to add: With all the nonsense in the hobby, would love to know the provenance on that box. Seals pre opened and what looks to be a mis grade Wayne in the last pack?

That bird did some nasty stuff in Birdtown to get that kind of karma.

I was wondering how legit this was as well. Video comes in on only the last 4 or 5 preopened packs. It seems if legit this would have been a bit more publicized with many many onlookers. Perhaps I have gotten too cynical with all the junk going on this year.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Isn't that like a 60K box or something?

Those packs would have come with a stick of gum, correct?
Did his "pre-opener" remove the gum? I didn't see a stack of gum on the table.
If legit, the guy was disappointed with his OC Gretzky. I would have been, too.

    Edit:

Aside from that, all I can say is he has some big marbles/huevos.

I’m not sure what to think of this. Seems like watching someone playing scratch lotto. At least savour the experience. To each their own, but i would love to pour through every one of those cards as it comes out of the pack. We each come to the hobby for different reasons, and i hope the opener enjoyed it.

I agree, his comment was "I was getting worried" Must be nice to not worry about what you spend money on.

Are the odds for that box only one Gretzky per box?

Also, what grade do you think that card is based on the picture (and assuming the back is ok)? I'm guessing 7.5 - 8 (no qualifiers)

With the print issues looks like a 7 to me.

Seemed like a work tbh, pre opened packs and a Gretz with issues on the last pack.

Even though he was careless with the cards, I find it hard to believe this was staged. He did it right at the PSA booth so that he could submit the Gretzky, at least that is what I was hoping when I saw it..? If there was a Gretzky found earlier and then staged as the last pack for the video, he would have taken the ultimate risk that the Gretzky wouldn't get any additional damage by re-putting it into a pack for an effect.

People with stupid money are on a different level than most of us, they take stuff for granted in most cases meaning it takes a lot more than opening up a box and getting a Gretzky to get excited.

Did anyone ask him or his buddy where the gum was ? The gum that was supposed to be inside the packs ?

Stuck to the back of the last card?

    @UFFDAH DON'T. OPEN. YOUR. BOX.

That's the first thing that came to my mind. He's too smart to do that right now though.

This is how you react when you pull an OPC Gretzky rookie from a pack !

Loved the reaction! And the centering looks amazing!

I can't see how anyone could possibly ever think about opening a 79-80 opc wax box.

I haven't done the math, but it may be the most lopsided box break on the market today.

If you compared it to a 1986 fleer wax box, at least you're getting on average 3 Jordans, and a slew of other good cards.

With 79-80 opc, you're on average getting 1 Gretzky, and PSA 9 commons are not setting the world on fire.

Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful, scarce box. But it ALWAYS needs to remain sealed IMO.

Not if the owner doesn't want it to be.

Did that guy opening the 79-80 opc box look like he was having a good time ?

He knew he just wasted some serious coin. That's what every person goes through after
they realize they just did something really stupid with their money.

He probably could afford it. Just won't get the Rib Eye next time lol
