As far as shops, Scotsman is there. Great store, great people. Also something coin related but not a shop is the Newman Museum at Washington University.
Don't know about the Newman Money Museum anymore since the collections was auctioned off, but its in the lower level of the Kemper Art Museum on WashU's campus. But I haven't visited it since the last Heritage auction.
For general site seeing the botanical gardens are a must see.
For an informal, old time style shop try CJS&T (Coins - Jewelry - Stamps -Treasures) at 5463 Clayton Road (Southwest corner of Forest Park, site of the 1904 World's Fair) not that far west of St. Louis University. Mike has been there for many years & has an eclectic assortment of numismatic stuff. Ask, a there are always interesting things not on display. Usually open regular hours but call first - 626-391-2578
You can see Newman's copy of the Declaration of Independence (an early broadside printing) on exhibit on the first floor of Olin Library, which is located right in the middle of the Washington University campus.

This. Scotsman has been good to deal with. I lived down near Midwest Money for years, my opinion of them is mediocre.
I knew it would happen.

Very worthwhile! And the beer is fresh!

The Newman Museum was closed in April, 2018.

Sad though expected. Appreciate everything Mr. Newman did, and is still doing, for our hobby.
Scotsman is great.
