NEWP: Fantastically toned 2 Gulden

German States, Bavaria, 1855 2 Gulden, PCGS MS64PL (Prooflike). Portrait of the King right / the Madonna Column. On the restoration of the Madonna (Mary's) Column in Munich. Superbly toned and deeply prooflike; possibly a proof striking (though not noted as such by PCGS).

Neat coin. Did PCGS actually put PL with the grade?
Yep. "Fantastically".
Fantastically executed portrait! The way the hair is sculpted is exquisite! Love the way it flows and the subtle chops are impressive, very cool. Noice toning always delights. Congrats!

Neat, I don’t think they give that designation out very often.
Awesome coin!

Beautiful coin. I love the design and the toning.
Well done Rex!
For some reason the slab makes it perk up...a lot.Cool
Beautiful coin ! Never seen a PL before of that type.
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Amazing! Looks like a Proof strike to me too... The inscriptions are crystal clear and sharp... the blue toning makes the coin look even more impressive.
Brett, the new PCGS head indicated that they were planning on looking at expanding PL/DMPL designations....
Sweet coin OP, definitely has some nice eye appeal with the design/toning.
PCGS has used PL as a suffix on foreign coins for quite a while, albeit rarely. They seem to lean toward using it in a literal sense, when coins have the appearance of a proof but they aren't comfortable with outright calling it something other than business strike (PR, SP, or PL as a prefix), but even so the designation is uncommon and sporadic. I believe Brett recently said that they hadn't expanded the usage of it yet.
