Nice. It seems like it has no prior pedigree. If so, it can just be known as the Morelan Specimen. Kind of nice to have the first spot in a pedigree list of such an old coin!

I like how the description says, "The connoisseur of early American coinage will find this coin to be a true treasure."

You seriously think it has no prior pedigree.....how much research did u do to come up with that statement of fact?

    More than you?

I did note earlier that it’s currently in timgoth99’s Registry Set but haven’t found anything before that or a name for timgoth99 yet. It seems plausible that the set belongs to a Tim Goth but searches haven’t turned one up yet.

Looking forward to your research results :)

Looking twice, thrice and then some more at the coin photos and video in this thread makes one thing abundantly clear.

Humans are very skilled at creating items of timeless beauty with their minds and bodies alone, without the need for any outside assistance.

This coin is a thing of beauty that was created by skilled craftsmen with metal, coin dies, a screw press, human muscle and the human mind.

People who can create things of beauty with their minds and hands are amazing.

Just messing around Dad. I forgot to place an emoji, what is my punishment?

Sorry, but I don't believe you were just "messing around".

Regardless, your punishment is no posting (under any username). Please note the lack of an emoji that might give the impression I'm messing around.

Oh shoot I forgot the Great Feldini is a fortune teller, mind reader, illusionist, trickster and trouble maker. I will make note, thank you for your invaluable input. Glad you are back, what would we all have done without your presence your eminence.

Edited to add you should know me better, if I knew the pedigree I would have worded it differently, but I don't and I don't have the time to research it and I don't even want to however great coins have always been owned by great collectors and I have to beleuve in 150 years or so a great collector had to have owned that great piece.

I think there's an excellent chance that you're correct about the provenance. Maybe that information will be unearthed.

    THANK YOU!

I thought it had a curved, concrete, water-filled "something" in the yard. I don't think it was a pool. Looked more like a river ride at an amusement park.

    Nice house.

I assume that somewhere in the house there is a numismatic equivalent to a "Man Cave" [aka a "Coin Cave"; or a "Coin Vault"; or maybe a "Scrooge Mc Duck vault with diving board"].

Or maybe the entire house will suffice for same :)

Just told by the broker (if I heard correctly) that it was formerly in an NGC 67 holder but got sidetracked by the coin itself. B) . We mostly talked about the PL and the cameo effect in-hand. And the strike. How awful (or not) were the micro-ticks on the reverse that brought it down from 67. He may know where it came from (after it emerged from the time machine) :D

I got a sense the pictures do not do it full justice.

Do the pictures of your house reveal the 1st tee just beyond your back yard?

MFeld - The only dig is at ignorance. Probably a wonderful coin, but is that all it is? When posting some magnificent result of the coiner's work, viewers should expect more than crow-enticing shiny objects. Flowery nonsense aides the education and long-term interest of no one - not even the crows.

If this is a "new" specimen, then how it was found and how it relates to others is the story, The "cost" is immaterial and ephemeral; it will change next time the coin changes hands.

If BM is the owner/discoverer, then he should be honored to write and publish the details for all to enjoy....or at least as much as can be reasonably presented.

    I could not disagree more.

    1. Bruce never mentioned price.
    2. A work of art can still be worth viewing even if you don't know the artist and don't know who owned it last.

I love when people who do NOT trade in coins day to day make ignorant talk. Look, I don't always agree with Bruce sharing his coins, but this one IS special.

Can't people here just let him enjoy it as is? why do the wannabes have to scream to the world about how much they do not know. I agree knowing some of the provence can be cool-but geez, Bruce is just thrilled to look at the coin every day.

I don't care what people say here, I know as does the southern fried colonial B) only a handful of people will ever get to see, much less hold a coin like this. Me personally, I am thrilled I can say I placed it-and I have handled the MS67's. Let Bruce enjoy the coin. Look at it, talk about it being prooflike. Drop the other chatter garbage.

And you people wonder why the likes of a Simpson, Hedgie, or the big birds won't even look at this place. You fake news wannbees just say thank you Bruce for sharing.

My last words, I am in "discussions" with Bruce about moving into the guest house. Seems to be a slight misunderstanding. Its okay, I have leverage. I find the better coins he wants! >:)

To be honest I pedigree every coin in my collection. I have a huge coin library and spend countless hours researching. I am fully aware that most don't care about pedigrees, I happen to love them its akin to the history of the coin and that is my first love. But since I spend so much time, doing it for free or doing for those who don't care doesn't encourage me to go out and do it and thus I end up just doing it for myself.

Do you publish your pedigree information? All your research deserves to be preserved with the coins. I know some posted pedigrees on their Registry Sets but there may be other great ways to post that information.

I do recall you saying that you care about old pedigrees but not more recent ones. Do you keep track of newer pedigrees for your coins, or not?

I don't publish other than here really. And I don't do the Registry thingy. I preserve my own pedigree info in my personal notes and/or right here. I only pedigree the older stuff, nothing new. Just the ole time collectors/numismatics/dealers.
Edited to add, I do have pcgs put it on the holder.

Good to know you have it added to the holder. Unfortunately, we know it's just as easy as for the next owner to request PCGS remove pedigree information from a holder, so a more permanent record is nice.

One place that might be interesting to add the information you found may be in Heritage listings if you sell there.

Nice images of your new home and beautiful coin, thanks for posting. This might be of interest to you as you settle into your new abode and something to consider:

    http://nevadasagebrush.com/blog/2018/04/10/nevada-must-start-thinking-about-water-solutions/

"One look at the bathtub ring around Lake Mead would tell you water is scarce in the mighty Colorado, which is fed by snowmelt in the Rocky Mountains.

The Southern Nevada Water Authority has done an excellent job shaming people into switching from grass lawns to desert landscaping over the years (except for the golf courses; they can use as much water as they want if they keep the tourists coming). But their water conservation propaganda efforts might not be enough if the drought continues."

It's pretty tedious reading through the innuendo etc, and excuse my ignorance on the coin, but here's a question - considering the die crack and weakness of the stars on the left side, along with the prooflike surfaces and great flow lines - it looks like a really early strike from a die that didn't last long. Were there other die combinations?

"Wow" doesn't begin to cover it, congrats.
