COMPLETED!!!! Maddux69's Hank Aaron Autographed Topps Set Run

Putting together a Hank Aaron PSA/DNA Auto Topps set run has been a major focus of mine for some time now. I am currently 16/23 complete with the major years already out of the way. I am focusing on the eye appeal of the card as well as the autograph, well except for 1960! The 1964 has the pedigree from the MacAlister Collection, noting they were from the well respected autograph collector James MacAlister who passed away in 2007. I will be converting the blue flips to red flips in the near future and have the card graded for all. Sent most off for card grading, except for the 1960 and 1976 which I will be replacing at some point. Original scans have been moved to a lower post.

Jason ... THAT is quite impressive. Thanks for sharing and continued good luck.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
good stuff! i took on this set and the 71 card was the hardest. theres an opc on the bay thats been up there forever...
you plan on redflipping them? if so, there is a basic signed aaron set.
btw: your 57 is off the charts in every aspect!!
Very nice run of Aaron sigs.
Very impressive indeed!!!

collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
Very nice Jason!
And quite a set it is. Love looking at it!
I am adding the ‘71 Topps to the mix. I have passed over a few, but it was love at first sight with this one as it has great centering and eye appeal along with a bold signature. I plan on sending it in soon to be put in the correct holder.

Started the Hank Aaron Basic Autograph Registry set, though I need to cross many of the blue flips to red to be included. I think I will have a numerical grade added to them as well even though many will be low grade.

It has been a while since I have updated my progress, but I have had some additions. I had grade add-ons for most of the cards, with the exception of the '60 and '76 which I will be upgrading and the '71 that I forgot to include. They did not keep the pedigree from the '64 which I requested in the sub so I will be sending it off soon to be fixed. I do have the '70 and '73 which I still need to scan as well as a '74 that is on its way. I have two that will be added soon with a recent signing, leaving me the '65, '67 and '69 to complete the run. The updated scans are in the first post with the initial scans retained in a later post.

Dude. Jason. This is awesome. What a cool run. Best of luck finishing it. It will look awesome displayed.

Very cool concept. Have you had to get any of these cards signed yourself or have they all been acquisitions? Guessing there’s some years that have much fewer signed cards than others.
Thank you all!
The current '57 is one I had signed and I think it is the best out of the group though it may have some competition soon. I have had another '54 and a '55T signed, but ultimately chose against them as the '54 had a crease that detracted from the auto and the signature from '55T looked better than one I had signed. The cost of signings has risen to the point where it is cost prohibitive and for the most part you can acquire signed cards already slabbed for less than the cost of a signing.

Good to see your update Jason.
This is - for sure - a collection to be proud of.
One of the nicest I've seen here with respect to auto runs.
Thanx!
$300 per card!!!! I paid $20 for his sig, in person, in 1993. Talk about inflation!
Very nice collection. I especially like the ball point sigs
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Just got the two cards I sent in for a signing and am floored. I will update when they has been slabbed by PSA(going out before the end of the week). The one that is a stunner is a 1955 Bowman, the auto is the best of his that I have seen and the card is beautiful as well.

Receiced the '64 back after getting the pedigree added back and added this '67 to the mix. The '55 Bowman and '61 that I sent off for are still at PSA being authenticated as well as a '70, '73 and '74. That puts me at just two away from completing the run.

Recent returns from PSA, really love the 55 Bowman as it is a great signature for his recent years and the card is well centered with great eye appeal. The 61 came from a recent signing as well while the 74 is a crossover. Check out my digital album to see them all together...gonna break out the 57 from the safe deposit box to get a back scan:

What an absolutely beautiful collection!
Recently upgraded my 1976 to one with a slightly better signature and a nicer card. I will be sending it off in the future to have the card graded.
According to the registry I am 75% complete and needing 6

Really nice project Jason. You picked a great player for an autograph run spanning three decades. Just beautiful.
That 76 replacement is a beauty, thinking a 7? The focus alone would have driven me crazy on your prior copy.
Thank you all! I think the top right corner will keep it at a 6. Definitely an improvement as the smudges in the auto are what drove me crazy.

That is some good stuff there! Aaron had a lot of great looking cards too.
New addition! I will be cracking this out and sending it in on the dual grading group sub that I will be sending info out on next month. I think it has a 50/50 shot at crossing over a 7 and a certain 6(I am looking right at you lower left hand corner).

Recent return as I had originally planned to crack out and send with the dual grading sub. Well I chickened out and sent it in via crossover. Pleased with the results and surprised to see the auto grade improved!

A la The Godfather, someone made me an offer that I couldn't refuse and I sold my PSA 5 68 Aaron. I wouldn't have done so if I couldn't replace it, so I purchased another that is a slight downgrade in card condition but well worth it. This one will be going to PSA for a grade add on. I have an unused free grading from the registry so I think this will be the best time to use it! Hopefully, more updates to come in the near future.

I was within seconds of getting a decent 1960 topps Aaron not that long ago

Amazing run Jason! That '65 is a stunner! Nice crossover.

The time has come and the Hank Aaron auto run is complete! I have had a few tucked away for a while so I can present them all at once. Many of the latest ones are the highest graded for that year so that was a nice surprise. I started this journey in August 2013 when I purchased the 1954 Aaron from Mike Navarro. Over time I bought some already certified as well as sent raw cards to be autographed at private signings. Big thanks to Waukesha Sportscards for many of those signings! Time sure does fly by because 9 years ago now feels like yesterday. Here is a screenshot of the PM and how the 54 was the source of inspiration to start collecting the entire Topps/Bowman run.
