GTG ......... A lowly P in an OGH adorned with a green BEAN :)
<3 I really like the clean field; free of blackish spots and attractive eye appeal.

PS: no prize involved :D

B)I am hoping to see it tones in the warm humid weather here

Nice rev strike obv looks like a late die stage perhaps, all in all a very nice coin. As its in an OGH I'll say MS65

    MS 65

  • 291fifth291fifth Posts: 24,832 ✭✭✭✭✭

Probably MS65 though there is a possibility it may have been downgraded to MS64 due to the die state and the fact that it is a very common issue. Personally, I don't like the die state and would not have bought it as a 65, if that is what it is.

Looks like some things up between L&I. I'll stick with 65

Might be late die state but it looks like it has nice luster. I'll go 5 on it.

It probably won't tone in the slab. If it wasn't graded already it could tone.

It looks very nice and mark free. Hard to tell a grade with the pics. I'll go with MS65 +/- a point.

Interesting piece! I'll go with 64+

Nice T1 Buffalo!! I could very easily see it as a 65. :)

I'm no good at grading Buffs so I'll just say looks like a nice one!

  • 1Mike11Mike1 Posts: 4,429 ✭✭✭✭✭

I would say 64 because of the roughness of the surface on the obverse but it wouldn't surprise me if it is a 65.

    Select uncirculated.

In mr1874's coin grading world unc grades go thusly,

    1.Strictly uncirculated
    2. Select uncirculated
    3. Choice uncirculated
    4. Gem uncirculated
    5. Superb gem uncirculated

It's a very lustrous coin with a hint of toning. Well struck but not fully struck, with a beautifully sculpted reverse. Later die state obverse with a small die crack between the L and I of LIBERTY.

Top feather is poorly detailed, but no where near as bad as some. I think that there could be some micro cracking on the reverse to add to the chiseled look. Strong head and tail show.

I like it as a high end 65.

The photo of the coin does it no justice. I think it is MS66 and very deserving of your impeccable taste........

Crusin' down the street with @Paradisefound's 64! Gorgeous! I always liked the 13 type 1. Very cool looking surfaces. Love the character on this one! :)

    Nice pickup!

Depends on who the seller is. If it’s someone trusted and they say “nice for the grade” I trust it and pay accordingly. I’ve found most that use the term “upgrade candidate” or “looks (insert one grade higher)” or similar always happen to have a whole lot in their inventory they say that about and thus no credibility.

  • 1Mike11Mike1 Posts: 4,429 ✭✭✭✭✭

If they say upgradable, you have to ask why didn't THEY send it in? ;)

Lots of sellers make that claim when older holders are part of the equation, still a very nice coin and I'm sure that you'll enjoy having it in your collection.

In this case, it’s probably not worth the price difference.

Losing the OGH and CAC is not worth a 64 to 65 upgrade on this coin
