NewP Gettysburg Commem. Your thoughts on the toning pattern?

In the list of US events worth commemorating, the battle of Gettysburg has to be in the top 10. This issue has been an empty slot in my "Box of 20 Best US Commems" for quite a while. I've half-heatedly pursued a few that have come up at auction, but none of them really seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.
It's really interesting how common gorgeous toning is on some issues and how difficult it is to find on others. Certainly it has something to do with how they were packaged, stored, distributed, etc. It was important to me to find a coin that had clean shields, good luster, and character (positive eye appeal). Easier said than done. This one popped up at GC and I decided to give chase. I don't really love the idea of bidding without an in-hand examination, but it seemed nice enough to be worth the risk. It arrived today.
Let me know your thoughts, particularly on the toning pattern and I'll share mine later.

I really like the overall look. Its has awesome eye appeal.
I dismiss these as being out of my league but looking closely at yours temps me to cease all purchases and save for one. What a great design.
Can't comment intelligently on the toning. I'm not familiar with original packaging. It looks like it spent a short period time in half of a cardboard or paper pocket.
Congrats!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
One of my favorite commems
It has some spotty areas (behind Union soldier, on Confederate officer's face, on Union shield and lettering around), but it's the original skin. I would buy it as a 65.
I think that is a very nice coin and appears to meet most of your requirements! Id be happy with it!
Not into Commemoratives, but this is right up my alley in terms of what I like in a coin. If you love it, it was worth the money, especially if you have friends\loved ones who can appreciate it with you.
Unless you took the money for it out of your retirement fund. Then I'd say you need to re-examine your priorities...
It is pleasing, but misses being exceptional in my view.

I like your coin. This is one commem that looks nice whether white or toned unless the toning has become too dark.

These were typically sent out in plain Dennison mailers and are often found with reddish tab-toning; check out the central circular toning over the center of the fasces on the reverse of the last coin below.
I suspect your coin was removed early and has not darkened yet, or it spent time in an envelope.

Very Nice Gettysburg, love the colorful toning......
I like the reverse better than the obverse. Pretty nice looking coin.
nice, I like

I agree. It looks plausibly original. The splotchiness is something I don't necessarily love, but it isn't too terribly extensive on this coin and it seems to be a pretty common look for the Gettysburg.
I think I agree with this too. I'm sure they exist, but I'm not sure I've seen a Gettysburg that blew my socks off. On the dumbed-down limited selection of coins now on CoinFacts, there aren't any that would hit "exceptional" in my book, at least not as toning is concerned.
@CommemDude,
Thanks for the photos and input. I thought these had been distributed in the tabbed mailers, but I wasn't sure. The overall toning "look" of the 1st and 3rd coin strike me as being generally similar, with a rather original appearance. The first one is a bit on the dark side. The 2nd coin is especially nice. I'm a sucker for rim toning.
In, hand, I find this toning to be nice, but maybe not drop-dead gawguhzz. The rest of the coin really does it for me. One little tick is evident in the soldier's hat. Apart from that it's pretty darn clean and luster is really outstanding. Grade-wise, I think the luster carries it, along with positive eye appeal.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
It looks good to me!

Not familiar with the way these coins tone but that coin next to the envelopes is very cool.
