you guys all chatting about a TROLL.
I saw and noticed negatively why this person was doing this. then I figured well, maybe he wants to know a lot of things very fast??
can anyone please explain what that subject person was trolling for?
I associate trolling with slow fishing and catching a 30 pound salmon.... if you get lucky.
or trolling in a singles bar for some fun....
but please, what was this guy trolling for.??
perhaps a solid warning would have been enough?
Personally i would support some sort of "start up" control like some other forums do.
there is a poster active on another forum with a similar MO.
I was the first member to answer most of his questions. After seeing "Does anyone have a 2018 cent" or something similar, I PM'ed him.
I suggested that he cool it for awhile, read the types of posts, and get the lay-of-the-land. Then I told him it is a lot of fun to troll around but it would be more fun if he was less obvious. His multiple posts stopped. He was gone the next day.
The fellow had joined about a week before with no nonsense - so was he an actual troll or just a YN?
I had answered one of his questions, but that question was the one that made it definite-asking if someone had seen one in person I believe.
Just as there are some relatively dead categories/threads on the Forum, wouldn't a "Newbie" one be visited pretty much just by other newbies vs the general expert population? I know there'd be a decent number of members interested in helping out newbies, but wouldn't a larger number just avoid & "thank the moderator" they didn't have to be bothered by them?
Normally, I'd go along with those that say "just ignore them & they will go away", but I can also see how annoying it can be to have a whole page taken up by 1 poster, driving legitimate threads down to later pages. But to combat, can't we just enforce any unofficial rule limiting the number or frequency of posts in a day?
A regular "Sophie's Choice" conundrum...............

There is no conundrum. The forum works just fine the way it is run. Every once in a while there is a hiccup. It is over and done.
To all concerned it wasn’t a guy it was me. And I was trying to post one picture and didn’t realize until too late that somehow it posted the same one multiple times. And yes I’m a Woman. There were a few kind people who let me know what happened. I’m just trying to learn all the gears for this site. Pardon my ignorance but no need to over react. Ya should’ve figured it was a newbie.

This isn't about you, the member was deleted. It's not against the rules to make a mistake.

With all due respect to us, we are jaded by trolls on a regular basis. But, glad to know you are not one, and our hobby definitely needs more female coin collectors. So, I hope you stay with it (us).
Thanks guys. Just working thru the kinks to learn my way around while I await the arrival of my 2 books. For beginners. But am taking advantage of reading up on what some of the language means. Appreciate y’all for being patient. I’ll try to be more careful with this thumb. Lol
There is already one forum where people Talk about Coins that puts down and discourages enough new numismatists for all of us.
One forum that i'm Not Gonna Comment on has a forum for nobbies, CU doesn't need to be slow like that place or segregate posters into you and us so we feel like we are second class.
Another Coin Collective i Found online, is welcoming and kind to everyone, maybe to the point where overall it l lacks the extensive knowledge and professionalism that is found here en masse.
Personally, I feel that PCGS, Heather and all of you guys and gals are doing a great job. making this the go to place for learning, sharing, having fun and being able to get professional quality opinions.
IMHO, CU doesn't need to change anything. There is enough internet experience here to "self police" and at the same time members and admins. have compassion for newer collectors so as not to ban or shun them for their lack of understanding or knowledge. At the same time making it clear that one should look for answers by "reading the book before buying" or at minimum try googling the question first.
I think that there is a great balance here which is a tough thing to achieve in an online forum.
Thank You All for sharing your knowledge with me. I am truly thankful to be a member here. Keep this like it is.
