Some Nicely Toned Mercury Dimes w/ PCGS TruViews

ShadyDaveShadyDave Posts: 2,188 ✭✭✭✭✭

Just got these 4 merc dimes graded via a US Econ order. Package was received 1/23/19 and grades posted 2/21/19. Overall happy with my grades, thought they were a bit tight but I knew that going in. The 27 and 28 are new additions to my merc dime set and the 37 and 40-S are upgrades.

My guess: MS-66FB Actual Grade: MS-64FB

My guess: MS-65FB Actual Grade: MS-65FB

My guess: MS-66FB (hoping for a 67-FB to make it worth while $$$ wise) Actual Grade: MS-66FB

My guess: MS-65-FB Actual Grade: MS-66FB

These are really nice. I wonder what the issue is with the 27. I see it as a high end 65 shot 66.

That '27 looks under graded to me

@ShadyDave Like the Mercs and your guesses for FB were right on with the graders/authenticator.

If you zoom in on the TruView, you can see a little scratch on back of liberty’s cap that is small and well hidden. It can’t really be seen without a loupe in hand...and like I mentioned, they’re still grading pretty tight 😀.

I think the slight chatter on the cheek and neck kept the 27 back. Nice coins overall.

Here are my quick picks on the 40-s and 28. The 40-s is tough cause the obv is PL.

The 1927 got a bad rap. CAC each of them. Trust me.......

I have about 10 coins ready to go to CAC (including these), so once I can fill up a slab box they will definitely be sent. I'll let you know what the results of these coins are!

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

One of my favorites. Undergraded at 67FB.

TrueView wasn't as kind on this one but it is super nice in hand . . . Brighter light would've made it look much nicer.

35-S and 37-S are very tough with nice color. The 37-S is also a DDO.
