New Purchase From the Sunset Collection Part 65

1tommy1tommy Posts: 3,019 ✭✭✭✭✭

Watched this coin for the past 3 weeks and I wanted to buy at least one coin from the Sunset Collection to Add to My set. Who ever this person is really had a Great eye for coins. I believe @Ian has handled this whole collection from Part 1 on.

I also do not know if this picture was taken by the GC Staff or it was done by the consignor but it looks as good as any True View I have received.

Now if we could just get PCGS to use the auction results from GC like they do with ebay and heritage and stacks as these prices need to be included for the price guide. @BrettPCGS @HeatherBoyd

The whole staff at GC does such a Great Job, pay for your coin on Sunday night and its shipped out Monday. Incredible... Down to 32 coins left. This coin is a MS 66+ and CAC

Thanks for looking....Enjoy Tom

Good stuff! I've admired quite a few coins from that collection & been outbid on a couple. I think the world of GC -- one of my favorite spots to browse lately.

    Nice Coin!

I agree on adding GC results to the PCGS Price Guide. I tried to get some of the 1919 DDO results from GC added, but they simply won't do it. Not sure why they used to put Teletrade ones in but not GC along with eBay. Next to eBay, they have to be the largest avenue of selling coins.

Wait, they don't include GC results in auction history?... I have somehow never noticed that.
Very strange considering that GC advertises through PCGS.

Thank you @1tommy. We have another three installments to list of the Sunset Collection over the next week.

Re: Prices realized on third party websites. It's been out policy for sometime to have all of our prices realized on our website at www.greatcollections.com.

I don't know if Mr Hernandez is still in charge of the Price Guide. But he has told me before to send him the links to GC so he would record them? (That has worked a few times) Now the last few emails have gone unanswered so again I don't know if he stayed on to do the price guide or not. Our host has not replied to this question.

I have seen many coins sell for above price guide on GC and it amazes me that our host is not using this info unless you send them a link? Nuts...….

    Thanks for the comments...……..

Stunning 1960-P Washington. Very nice indeed. I also agree with you about GC. They are truly amazing ... great service. It's so nice to see better and better coins/collections showing up on their site.

Does the name "Sunset Collection" have any meaning, or is it just another "sales name?"

Very nice! I'm surprised it isn't in a 67 holder.

This collection seems huge. I wonder how many parts there are. Does it have a unifying theme or just a monster accumulation?

This was posted on GC after the first Sale in 2016 . Ian mentioned in this thread at least 3 More auctions. That would be 68

The owner of the Sunset Collection carefully selected his coins over the years based on eye appear. Many of the coins have colorful toning and nice mint luster.

    A note from the consignor:

Great Collections was chosen to market the collection out of several options, because they do such a nice job with their photography. They also had a lower buyers fee, which was appealing as we didn't want the new owners to get hit with higher fees unnecessarily. Hopefully, these coins will bring years of enjoyment to the new owners as they have brought us over the years.

Now I would love to think these came from a Great Collector, someone who had a great eye and love for coins. But I did receive one pm suggesting something else. Honestly I love this coin and the name sunset collection does match the way some of these coins toned. I know that I did not pay any premium for the name so its just a cool factor added to a Great Coin.

Thanks all for the comments...….I also found out who took the picture and will just say its a Board Member...

    Enjoy Tom

    "market the collection"

So, just a sales gimmick name. OK

I wonder if Mr. Sunshine will buy anything from this Sunset collection and if so, will it be bad karma for him? This is a very serious question! :#
