    I have run out of cherry bombs and they were fun.
    Took the kids firecracker shopping long ago in SF Chinatown.
    The kids who were selling them thought I was cop.

    Happy Pig to you all!!!

    My significant other is originally from Vietnam. After going to a Buddhist temple yesterday we went to a Vietnamese shopping center for food and fireworks. One thing I found amusing was a Dad who was clearly getting his kid started in the right way. The Dad, as well as several of the Dad's friends, had a shopping cart fully loaded with boxes and boxes of firecrackers.

    The kid was probably about 3 years old. He had sound suppression ear muffs on. His Dad had given him a propane torch. Whenever the Dad or his friends wanted to light a string of firecrackers they'd have the kid fire up the propane torch and light the fuse...

    I have one of those red envelopes on my desk from last year. They are supposed to contain candy and money. So what kind of money did you put in yours? Gold or silver? >:)

    Happy New Year! (Why does the title of the thread say "Year of the Dog?).

    May your new year be filled with good luck, prosperity, and lots of bacon! Oink, oink!

    If you are born early in a year you are the previous year aren't you? I think it starts with the Chinese New Year.

    Funny as I have little energy these days, no desire to ever be the center of attention, but I am very curious that's for sure! Thanks @Paradisefound for posting this.

    I was selling fire cracker in China Town NYC competing with Junior (John Gotti's son) who was selling across the street at Little Italy back in the late 80's. We stacked whatever leftover to ceiling high between the intersection after midnight and lighted them up while running for our lives.

    Normally $20 for each kid of distance relative and friends. $100 for family elders, nephews, nieces and close friends' kids. And thousands for In-laws and spouse's siblings who had never been married.

    @Paradisefound
    According to Chinese tradition, you are still a kid since you're single. Your mom, friends of your family, uncles, aunts , your siblings and cousins who are married suppose to give you red envelopes instead. :D
