I wonder how this is going to turn out for Nicolás Maduro if this claim is true. I bet Putin is happy to take possession of this gold for his buddy >:) Think this transaction will go the same way as Saddam Hussein and the missing Iraqi gold?

This action seems to elude to the fact that Maudro might be feeling nervous and might want to make a quick escape in case the military turns against him...

no such thing as a conspiracy. We all know that two or more people never work together to violate the law.

    Just checking...

    $840,000,000

    Spot ~$1,311/toz

    $840,000,000 / $1,311/toz = 640,732.265toz = ~19.93 metric tons

Venz. owes Russia billions. Might just be a partial payment to keep Russian support.

"... a source told Bloomberg News that it represented about 20 percent of the country's holding of the metal"

So we should expect 4 more flights to follow closely behind.

I imagine Maduro and his family will also be on the last flight. :D

Looks like a negotiation in process. Maduro has to hold gold back as long as possible in order to keep some leverage in any negotiation. Putin wants influence or control over the oil reserves, plain as day.

If Maduro sends all of the gold to Putin and then flees, Putin has no incentive to protect Maduro whatsoever. Maduro has to buy his security, no matter where he turns - and as soon as the gold is gone and Maduro has nothing left with which to pay his security people and/or Putin, nobody will care where Maduro runs to, least of all Putin. It's ultimately about the oil.

Since socialism has already destroyed the whole place, there's nothing left in the country to want control of, or to fight anyone over.

Those countries share similarities. They both have the vast majority of the wealth transferred to the "leaders" while the citizens suffer in poverty. The elections are rigged as well, heck, Russia even meddles in our election.

Don't think for a moment that we don't meddle in the internal affairs of many countries, or that we are the only country that attempts to do such things. They all do it.

As much as Russia might wish to influence our elections, the reality is that voter fraud has had more impact on our elections than the Russians would ever hope to have.

The whole DC establishment and media crowd mocked Romney in the 2012 Republican primary debates when he cited Russia as our greatest threat, and still - nobody bats an eye about the Uranium One scandal that Hillary Clinton presided over as Secretary of State, or Bill Clinton's tit-for-tat speaking fees in Moscow during that same time frame.

Suddenly, when Trump was elected, the Russians became the big problem. Very odd, don't you think? There's a lot more than still-undocumented Russian election influence going on in this particular debate. There must be at least 10 or 12 different powerful groups wrestling for control of the US government, and not even half of them are domestic.

    no LOL on this one.

Venezuela does owe Russia billions. It maybe a payment. They have been using oil as payments. (they are behind in payments, too.)

UAE's Noor Capital says it bought 3 tonnes of gold from Venezuela

"Venezuela’s plan was to sell 29 tonnes of gold held in Caracas to the UAE by February in order to provide liquidity for imports of basic goods, a senior official said. Two high-level Venezuelan central bank officials were made to resign on Thursday and Friday because they did not want to authorize the sale of gold, three sources familiar with the situation said, declining to be named because the situation was sensitive."
