Please would some one tell me how to tell the difference between the type 1 and 2 of the SBA $1.00.Thanks,Snake

    The is actually easier then most other post will suggest. I have studied this and I could be wrong, but I've found to forget the loupe and look at the angle of the mint mark. All of the type IIs I have cherry picked from shows have an S that angles 10 degrees to the left of center. If you take a straight edge through the middle of the mark and continue it to the rim of the coin, it will point towards the L in Liberty while Type Is will poin to the I.

    Plus, the Type IIs appear to the naked eye to be more squat and fatter.

    Others will post pics, but for cherry picking, my explanation has yet to fail.

    Hope this helps - the 79 is a type I, and the 81 is a type II.
