Why are tokens and medals excluded from the current Quarterly Special?

DCWDCW Posts: 7,618 ✭✭✭✭✭

If submission guidelines indicate that you submit your tokens and medals based on the appropriate value as other US coins, why exclude them from the quarterly special?
I have several medals I'd like to submit under the current special (which gives you a free grade for every 3 coins you submit with a US President on it.) Bummed that it excludes my area of interest.

Any thoughts @HeatherBoyd?

Do Washington items under “Colonial” qualify for the Quarterly Special?

Tokens and medals take longer to describe and grade than coins. Probably the reason why they are excluded.

You are probably right, but how much longer does it really take? And just because it takes longer shouldn't exclude them from the special in my opinion. Turnaround times aside, this would make PCGS money. I pay my membership fees every year, and this is a benefit that I cannot use as a club member, simply because I really dont buy US coins anymore.

Actually, tokens and medals loose money at every place I've worked. The grading is easy, the correct attribution often takes time.
