1887 S Flyaway Hair Variety? $5 Gold coin

I love this new coin! I noticed under inspection there seems to be retooling of the die, with some extra die scratches or gouging in the hair and extending into the letters of “Liberty” it is really cool looking in my opinion.
Definitely not PMD
There is also hints of minor doubling on just a few letters on the reverse
Maybe I am reaching here, with all the excitement, yet comparing CoinFacts images I did not see any others with the same marks

Good looking coin, but I did not see the date/mm combo in the CherryPickers Guide.

Interesting but apparently random die damage, not something that would tickle the fancy of your average variety collector.
If it were on a common cent, there might be a very small premium.
On a $350-ish gold coin, there is no premium.

It could be ... more minutiae.
Die gouges. Very cool!

Insignificant to the value of the coin or not, those are neat! Cool that you are able to examine the coin down to the level you are.
